At Clinical & Forensic Associates, our mental health and de-escalation training is designed to equip law enforcement professionals with practical tools, deeper understanding, and strategies that improve outcomes for both officers and the communities they protect.

Law enforcement officers carry an immense burden, exposed to repeated trauma across their careers, often without the space or support to process it. Yet many still feel they have to โ€œpush throughโ€ in silence.

Mental health should never be a sign of weakness in this profession, itโ€™s part of sustainability, safety, and longevity.

When stigma keeps officers from seeking help, it doesnโ€™t just impact the individual, it impacts families, departments, and the communities they serve.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day of reflection, remembrance, and celebration of freedom, resilience, and progress.

As we commemorate this important moment in history, we also recognize the ongoing importance of creating communities where every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and humanity.

Williamโ€™s story shows us something important: behavior is often the surface. Trauma is whatโ€™s underneath.

After a childhood marked by emotional hardship, William turned to drugs early in life. That path led to decades of addiction, homelessness, and repeated incarceration, not because he wanted to be there, but because he was surviving unresolved pain.

Then one encounter changed the trajectory of his life.

Instead of handcuffs, a police officer offered a question, a conversation, and a path to help. That moment became the turning point that moved William from life on the streets to long-term recovery, and ultimately into a career as a mental health counselor.

His story is a reminder: when we respond to crisis with connection instead of only control, change becomes possible.

Please join us in welcoming our newest intern, Aniya Williams, to the Clinical & Forensic Associates team!

Aniya is currently a fourth-year student at The Pennsylvania State University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with interests in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Clinical Psychology. Her passion for understanding human behavior and advocating for mental wellness has fueled both her academic and personal pursuits.

Outside of the classroom, Aniya is actively involved in several student organizations, including Black Caucus, Spanish Club, and Writers Organizing to Represent Stories (W.O.R.D.S.). She also enjoys expressing her creativity through poetry, reading, and video games.

After graduation, Aniya plans to continue serving her community while preparing to pursue her Masterโ€™s degree. She is especially passionate about promoting mental health awareness and advocating for equitable access to mental health resources, particularly within the Black community.

We are excited to be a part of Aniyaโ€™s professional journey and look forward to the insight, passion, and dedication she will bring to our team.

Samantha is joining us as a Psychosocial Group Program Development and Outreach Intern and is currently pursuing her Masterโ€™s degree in Forensic and Legal Psychology at Marymount University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany, where she double majored in Psychology and Criminal Justice and double minored in Behavioral Neuroscience and Education.

Through her background in peer education, Samantha gained valuable insight into the importance of mental health in all settings and the role that skill development plays in supporting overall well-being. Her passion for psychology, education, and community engagement aligns perfectly with our mission of promoting mental health awareness and meaningful support.

Following graduation, Aurielle plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with the goal of becoming a Child Neuropsychologist.
