A Heartfelt 9/11 Remembrance at Prairie Winds 🇺🇸

On Friday afternoon, our residents, staff, and friends gathered together for a very special time of remembrance as we honored the lives lost and forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Tim, our Administrator, opened the afternoon by sharing a touching poem about 9/11, giving everyone a quiet moment to reflect and remember. Our very own Dale then offered a heartfelt prayer for the victims, their families, the brave first responders, and all those who continue to carry the memories of that day in their hearts.

Following the remembrance, Virginia and Chrissy filled the room with wonderful music. Residents sang along, smiled, danced, and enjoyed being together. It was beautiful to see how music brought comfort and joy while reminding us of the strength that comes from standing together.

More than two decades have passed, but the memories and sacrifices of September 11th remain close to our hearts. We remember those we lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and cherish the freedom and togetherness that unite us.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

Prairie Winds residents spent the day honoring and remembering September 11th.

Our day of remembrance began with a special performance by the Baier Family String Quartet from Gibson City, Illinois. They shared a beautiful selection of modern music filled with moving melodies and soul-stirring words.

Their performance provided a meaningful and heartfelt way to begin a day dedicated to reflection, remembrance, and honoring the lives forever impacted by September 11, 2001. We are grateful to the Baier Family String Quartet for sharing their music with our residents on such an important day. ❤️🤍💙

Residents had a wonderful time dancing and singing along to their favorite songs with DJ Heavy D! 🎶💃🕺 Everyone enjoyed the music, great energy, and a fun evening together last Friday.

This week, a representative from the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC) visited Prairie Winds to meet with our residents. He demonstrated several specialized phone options and communication devices designed to assist individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Residents also had the opportunity to receive hearing screenings and learn which equipment may best meet their individual needs. Thank you to ITAC for providing this helpful and informative presentation and for helping our residents stay connected with their family and friends!
