If you’re like me, your natural medicine cabinet gets plenty of use during bug season! Here are a few of my favorite holistic tools to help support the body’s response after a bite:

🌱 Plantain – One of nature’s best first-aid plants! Crush a fresh leaf and apply it directly to the bite to help soothe irritated skin.

🖤 Black Drawing Salve – A classic remedy that many families keep on hand to support the skin after insect bites and stings.

💜 Lavender Essential Oil – A favorite for calming irritated skin while leaving behind a wonderful scent.

✨ Purification Essential Oil (Young Living) – My go-to blend after time outdoors. I love applying it to bug bites for a drawing effect

🌿 Black Walnut + Wormwood + Oregano – These herbs are often used as part of a broader wellness approach after insect exposure. When appropriate, I like pairing them with red light therapy to support the body’s natural healing processes. Apply the tincture topically and follow up with red light.

🥛 Calcium Lactate – An often-overlooked nutrient that some holistic practitioners use to support the body’s inflammatory response after bites. This can also be beneficial for skin healing.

💡 A gentle reminder: The sooner you address a bug bite, the better! Keeping a few natural remedies on hand can make outdoor adventures much more enjoyable.

Fun fact: when some bugs bite, they can leave behind microscopic parasites under the skin.

The story of the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8 has always stayed with me. But after my daughter’s unexpected illness, I don’t read it the same way anymore.

For twelve years, this woman had exhausted every earthly option. She knew suffering. She knew disappointment. Yet somehow, she also knew this:

“If I can just touch His garment, I will be healed.”

What incredible faith.

As a parent, I understand the desperation of wanting your child to be well. I understand the prayers whispered through tears and the ache of waiting. And in those moments, this story became more than a miracle—it became a reminder.

A reminder that our God is not limited by human understanding.

We naturally look to tests, treatments, and answers. Those things have great value, but they are not the final authority. God is. He is the One who designed every cell in our bodies. He is, and always will be, the Great Physician.

Luke 8 reminds me that Jesus didn’t just heal the woman—He saw her. He stopped for her. He met her in her faith.

That gives me hope.

Because the same Jesus who responded to one desperate touch over two thousand years ago is still working today. He still sees. He still heals. He still performs miracles that far surpass what our minds can explain.
