Today I received a call from a prospective patient who had been referred by her sister more than 10 years ago whom I had seen, back when I was working at the hospital. Her first question was, “Are you the same Emily who used to work there?” When I said yes, she replied, “I’m so happy I found you.”

Moments like this remind me how grateful I am for the relationships that have been built over the past 19 years. I have had the privilege of caring for entire families, parents, their children, and now, in many cases, those children have families of their own.

Some of my most memorable journeys have been with patients who struggled with fertility, worked so hard to conceive, and later returned with their second and even third child. Watching families grow and being trusted to be part of those milestones is truly an honor.

I love every aspect of what I do. Thank you to the patients, families, friends, and healthcare colleagues who have placed their trust in me throughout the years. Your referrals and support mean more than you know, and I am grateful every day to do work that I genuinely love.

Our free library outside Michigan TCM Wellness Center in downtown Utica has been getting a lot of use lately. Of the three little libraries my family built, this one definitely sees the most traffic. Simple, peaceful things like reading and relaxing acupuncture truly make my heart happy. Enjoy!💗

A recent scientific journal published in the National Library of Medicine reports that acupuncture is a cost-effective, nonpharmacological treatment for acute and chronic pain.

As for placebo? Not quite. Physiological changes occur at the site of needle insertion, including increased blood flow to the area all measurable through ultrasound and optical imaging.

Brain imaging studies show that acupuncture does more than just stimulate the skin where the needles are placed. Research using MRI and PET scans has found that acupuncture can affect areas of the brain involved in pain, emotions, stress, and thinking.

Studies also show that acupuncture may help the body release its own natural pain-relieving chemicals, called endorphins. This may help explain why many people experience reduced pain, relaxation, and an improved sense of well-being after treatment.

With the heterogeneity of supportive evidence, acupuncture's low-risk profile under standardized techniques and potential cost-effectiveness suggest consideration as a neuromodulation/practical nonpharmacological management of pain therapy. ...

One of the most common questions I get is: what’s the difference between acupuncture and dry needling?
Education matters. Acupuncturists complete several years of formal training and must pass national board exams through the NCCAOM. They also maintain licensure with ongoing continuing education requirements.
Dry needling is a technique typically taught in short continuing education courses, often within physical therapy programs.
Regulations vary by state, and dry needling is not permitted everywhere.
For safe, effective care, be sure to see a board-certified licensed acupuncturist.

Except if one gets a Doctorate; then it’s 9 years. Same as an MD.

On top of those years are specialty medicine studies. These are post Doctorate, out of pocket, full weekend courses up to year long programs of study to complete higher levels of mastery in Neurology, Dermatology, Fertility, Sports Medicine, and more.

This is not “alternative” medicine.
It is the first medicine.
It is very much mainstream medicine.
A non-toxic, general practice medicine, preventative medicine, maintenance medicine, acute and chronic condition care medicine, and it’s for all ages.
Treating the body as the whole system it is. (Because we are not separate pieces)

You don’t have to believe in it (or understand it) for it to work. It works because it is the medicine every cell in our body needs. Cell Biology 101.

Acupuncture is often a last resort for people who have struggled to find relief elsewhere. We regularly see complex conditions, failed surgeries, and patients who arrive feeling skeptical, discouraged, and hopeless. That’s why moments like this matter, when a patient shares, through tears, that they finally feel good again and can enjoy the things they love. Hope is powerful, and healing begins there.

It’s a beautiful 70° sunny day. The free library located outside the clinic is stocked with books and inspirational stickers, ready to brighten someone’s day. I’m also working on a 3rd free library coming to the community soon!

Perfect weather to grab a book, relax, and get lost in a good story. Happy reading!💗

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it was truly an honor to support you during such a vulnerable time. Acupuncture can help support fertility by improving blood flow, regulating cycles, and reducing stress, all of which play an important role in reproductive health. I’m so grateful to have been part of your journey and wish you continued health and happiness 💛

Acupuncture can support fertility and pregnancy every step of the way.

I’ve been working with a wonderful mom who came in for support as her body was preparing to transition into labor. I was so excited to receive a message from her today saying she had to cancel her appointment… because baby was ready to arrive!

Moments like this are such a joy to be part of. Wishing her a smooth delivery and a beautiful first meeting with her little one. 💗
