We are excited to be facilitating this social meet up next month. Open to all neurodivergent families, with children/teens of all ages. This is a chance to connect, explore and meet others in a supportive environment. *SDP funds accepted

Sometimes kids need a partner in order to effectively regular their feelings and bodies.

Here are some ways I like to co-regulate:

💕Using smooth, rhythmic movements
🧘‍♀️slow deep breathes
🧸Deep pressure (pillow or stuffy presses)
🎶Familiar songs
🤗 Validation
🤲Gentle pats
🤝Warm connection

I’m not a speech therapist but I work closely with SLPs and feel very strongly about supporting all forms of communication and self-advocacy, especially in our non-speaking kids.

So thankful for for getting our client going on AAC. He’s so intentional and so knows exactly what he wants.

When your non speaking client communicates that he wants to be yeeted across the pool, you yeet him across the pool.

This brought him so much joy and happiness and he repeatedly came back for more with body language communication and attempted verbally saying “one two three go”.

You may see a community playground but I see about 100 different ways we can use the equipment to achieve goals in motor skills, executive functioning and sensory development!

It’s one of the reasons I love working outdoors, I get to be creative and teach families how to incorporate things into their environment to help support their child in their development.

Very thankful for all the incredible parks we have here in Santa Clarita CA!

In-Home occupational therapy uses things you probably already have laying around if you have kids. With some chalk, a ball and some scrabble letters we were able to make a fun game that worked on a lot of sensory motor skills.
