❤️ Standing with Our Neighbors Affected by Wildfires ❤️

Right now, families, ranchers, and entire communities across our region are facing devastating loss from ongoing wildfires. In many cases, everything they’ve worked for—gone.

At Cherry County Hospital, we believe showing up for each other matters—especially in moments like this. That’s why we’ve partnered with Rock and Brown County Hospitals, the Sandhills Area Foundation, and Danielski Trucking to help get critical support directly to those who need it most.

• Mail to:
Sandhills Area Foundation

• Or donate online: www.sandhillsareafoundation.com (click “Donate Now”)
• Donations are tax-deductible

👉 Hay & Supply Donations

⏳ Donations accepted through July 1

This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a regional response powered by strong partnerships and even stronger communities.
Let’s show what Cherry County does best. Step up, give what you can, and help us support those rebuilding from the ground up.

And like so many of you, we’re hoping and praying for rain. 🌧️

June is Men's Health Month, and there is no better time to prioritize your health.

Many men assume urinary symptoms are just a normal part of aging, but changes in bladder or prostate health should never be ignored. Early detection and preventive care can help identify issues before they become more serious.

We're proud to partner with Dr. Hopson, urology specialist from Monument Health in Rapid City, who provides expert urology care right here at Cherry County Hospital.

Did you know?
🔹 About half of men age 50 and older experience symptoms related to an enlarged prostate.
🔹 Frequent urination, especially at night, is one of the most common signs of prostate or bladder issues.
🔹 Difficulty starting urination, a weak stream, urgency, leakage, or blood in the urine are symptoms that should be evaluated.
🔹 Early diagnosis and treatment can improve quality of life and help prevent complications.

Taking care of your health isn't just about treating problems—it's about preventing them. Don't wait until symptoms interfere with your daily life. Expert urology care is available close to home. Talk with your primary care provider about scheduling with Dr. Hopson.

🚗🗑️ Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup Success! 🗑️🚗

This past Thursday evening, volunteers from Cherry County Hospital got out on the highway to clear away roadside trash! We had an incredible employee turnout and collected a massive amount of garbage.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has participated in our Adopt-a-Highway litter pickups. Since adopting our 2-mile stretch in 2025, we have completed three scheduled cleanups, and your efforts are truly making a difference. With each cleanup, our highway looks cleaner, and we are finding less litter along the route. This shows that our hard work is paying off!

💡Did you know: The Nebraska Sandhills are a global treasure, one of the largest remaining intact native grassland ecosystems in the world. Litter isn’t just an eyesore; it’s a direct threat to this delicate environment:

🦔Wildlife Threat: Trash can easily choke, injure, or entangle local wildlife.

🌱Soil & Water Damage: Decaying plastics leak harmful toxins into our soil and the water supply our livestock and wildlife depend on.

🛑The "Hidden" Litter: Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world. They are made of plastic fibers and take up to 10 years to decompose, leaking toxins the entire time.

We can all do our part to protect our home and preserve the natural beauty of the Sandhills for all to enjoy. Please remember to keep your trash with you until you find a garbage can, and if you see litter left behind by others, grab it and throw it away!

📅Looking Ahead: Join Us in September! We are already planning our next cleanup event for this September, so please watch for details. The more volunteers we have, the lighter the work becomes, and every helping hand makes an impact.

Thank you again to our amazing staff and community volunteers for your time, dedication, and commitment to keeping the Sandhills clean, beautiful, and natural! ❤️💪

🌐 Beyond the Baby Bump (Men, this post is for you!) 🩺

Think ultrasound machines are just for pregnant women? Think again. While it's famous for first baby photos, ultrasound technology is actually one of the most powerful, non-invasive, and radiation-free tools available for men’s health. Since June is Men’s Health Month, let’s bust the myth and look at how this "women's machine" saves men's lives every day:

🛡️ Testicular Health: It is the primary tool to detect lumps, cysts, or early-stage testicular cancer (the most common cancer in men aged 15-35).

🎈 Prostate Checks: Special ultrasounds give doctors a clear view of the prostate gland to investigate enlargement (BPH), inflammation, or prostate cancer.

❤️Heart Screenings: Vascular ultrasounds screen for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA)—a dangerous bulging artery that mostly affects men over 65 who have ever smoked.

🪨 Kidney Stones: Got sudden, severe back pain? An ultrasound safely spots kidney stones and cysts without exposing you to radiation.

Healthcare doesn't have a gender. Taking care of your body means using the best tools available. Men, if your doctor orders an ultrasound, don't sweat it. It’s a fast, painless, and vital step to keeping you in the game. 💪

🩸 Thank You, Blood Donors! 🩸

Thank you to everyone who participated in Monday's blood drive. Your generosity helps save lives and makes a tremendous difference for patients in need.

During the drive, a few individuals were deferred due to low hemoglobin levels. Because iron plays an important role in maintaining healthy hemoglobin levels, we're sharing an Iron-Boosting Nutrition Guide to help donors learn more about foods and habits that support healthy iron levels.

Whether you donated, volunteered, or helped spread the word, we appreciate your support and commitment to helping others. Every donation opportunity matters, and we look forward to seeing you at our next blood drive!

What is "Baby Core"? Meet 9-Month-Old Eliza! 🍼

Did you know that Cherry County Hospital provides specialized Occupational Therapy (OT) for infants? This crucial work is part of our Pediatric Milestone Development program.

This is 9-month-old Eliza! She has been working hard with our OT department to master her crawling and build up her overall core strength.
While working with sweet little babies like Eliza might look like the best job ever, and it definitely involves plenty of playtime, our therapists are actually hard at work on what we call "Baby Core."

If your infant is experiencing delays with major developmental milestones like rolling, crawling, pulling up, standing, or walking, our Pediatric Milestone Development program can be a game-changer. Our team focuses specifically on building foundational core strength and motor coordination. This gives your little one the physical tools they need to start safely progressing with their mobility and exploring their world.

Early intervention makes a massive difference, and our therapy team loves getting to cheer on patients like Eliza through every milestone!

🩺 Take the next step: If you feel your infant could use a little extra help hitting their milestones, reach out to your primary care physician to ask about a referral to the Cherry County Hospital Therapy Department.
