I’m not crying… you’re crying. 🥹💙

This summer, Crossroads Center has been filled with so much more than construction noise and expansion planning. It has been filled with the laughter, smiles, energy, and servant hearts of SEVEN incredible pre-med and pre-nursing students.

Yes… 7! Seven amazing young women and men eager to learn, serve, and better understand what it means to provide healthcare to our underserved neighbors.

And they didn’t just stay within the walls of the Center. They stepped into our community! They had the opportunity to serve as guest speakers at the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee, sharing their experiences and perspectives as the next generation of healthcare professionals. They also rolled up their sleeves and assisted with back-to-school physicals at Crosspoint Church, helping local students prepare for a healthy start to the school year.

From presentations and preparing charts to community outreach and hands-on service—they did it all. But what made them truly special wasn’t simply what they accomplished. It was how they served: with humble, sincere, and willing hearts.

Each one expressed how grateful they were for the time they spent at Crossroads, but the truth is, the Center is the one that was blessed by their presence.

We are so excited that two will continue serving with us throughout the fall and spring, and we are already looking forward to welcoming the other five back next summer!

As they return to school, our staff and volunteers send them off with full hearts and a prayer that God continues to guide their paths, strengthen their calling, and use their gifts to care for others.

To our seven: thank you for choosing to spend your summer learning, growing, and serving alongside us. You will always be part of the Crossroads family. 💙

Crossroads Center is excited to welcome PAPA's Smokehouse to the Crossroads family! 💙

PAPA's Smokehouse generously sponsored the food for our recent Lunch & Learn, feeding our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, and community members who joined us for an afternoon of learning, fellowship, and growth.

But behind every great local business is a story—and a whole lot of hard work.

Jim pours his heart into his work and takes incredible pride in every meal he serves. You can often spot him in the early morning, tending the wood-burning smokers long before most of us have started our day. That dedication shows in every bite, but even more importantly, it shows in the way he gives back to the community.

His creativity, patience, and problem-solving have helped take our nonprofit to the next level. But what matters even more is how he has done it. Sam is always available, always willing to teach, and always approaches every question and challenge with genuine kindness.

North Okaloosa Medical Center continues to demonstrate the impact of that commitment.

According to North Okaloosa Medical Center's 2025 Community Benefit Report, its impact throughout our region included approximately:

❤️ $83 million in uncompensated care
❤️ $170 million in overall community benefit

Those numbers tell an incredible story—but behind each number is a person, a family, an employee, or a neighbor whose life has been impacted.

Their commitment also extends beyond direct patient care. North Okaloosa Medical Center invests in strengthening local healthcare services, supports charitable organizations addressing social determinants of health, participates in community service initiatives, and continues to invest in the healthcare workforce of tomorrow.

🏥 HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital
🏥 HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital

Together, these two hospitals represent something incredibly important to our community—a commitment to ensuring quality healthcare is available close to home and to investing in the health and well-being of the communities they serve.

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital has served our region for more than 50 years and provides comprehensive acute and specialty care, including trauma, cardiovascular, cancer, behavioral health, rehabilitation, emergency care, and many other services.

Just a few miles away in Niceville, HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital continues its commitment to compassionate, high-quality healthcare while serving the needs of individuals and families throughout our local community.

But being a community healthcare leader means more than what happens within hospital walls.

Both organizations recognize the importance of partnership—working alongside other healthcare providers, nonprofits, community organizations, and local leaders to address needs and build a healthier community.

Crossroads Center is deeply grateful to be among the organizations that have experienced that spirit of partnership and support.

For our patients, the healthcare journey does not always begin or end at Crossroads. Sometimes a patient needs diagnostic testing, emergency care, specialty treatment, hospitalization, or follow-up that extends beyond what a nonprofit clinic can provide. Strong relationships across our healthcare community help bridge to the next level of care.

That collaboration matters—especially for the uninsured and financially vulnerable individuals Crossroads serves.

💙 Lead Community Partner Spotlight: 100 Men Who Care Emerald Coast 💙
There is incredible power in what happens when people come together with one simple goal: to make their community better.

100 Men Who Care Emerald Coast has turned that idea into an extraordinary movement of generosity. Their concept is beautifully simple—members each commit $100 per quarter, hear directly from local nonprofits serving Okaloosa and Walton Counties, and then collectively choose an organization to receive their combined gift.

One hundred men. One hundred dollars. One evening. One gift that can make a $10,000 impact.

And that impact adds up. Today, 100 Men Who Care Emerald Coast is celebrating more than $150,000 in local giving, supporting nonprofits that are meeting real needs right here in our own backyard.

Crossroads Center has been incredibly blessed by their generosity—not once, but twice. Crossroads was selected to receive their quarterly gift in 2022 and again in 2024.

For a nonprofit like Crossroads, financial support of this magnitude is about so much more than a check. It means more opportunities to care for patients who are uninsured or facing financial hardship. It helps provide resources, medications, supplies, and services. Most importantly, it allows us to continue saying “yes” when someone in our community needs help.

What we especially appreciate about 100 Men Who Care Emerald Coast is that their members don't simply give—they listen. Local nonprofits have the opportunity to share their missions, explain the needs they are seeing firsthand, and show how an investment can directly impact our community.

Their model proves that you don't have to do everything to make a difference. When individuals combine their generosity, $100 can become $10,000—and $10,000 can change countless lives.

And then there are those who make a decision that can change a ministry’s future for generations.

In February 2023, Cornerstone Worship Center gave Crossroads Center an extraordinary gift—the land and buildings we call home.

Their generosity was more than a property donation. It was an investment in the future of Crossroads Center and, more importantly, in the thousands of individuals and families who will walk through our doors in the years ahead.

Because of Cornerstone Worship Center's generosity, Crossroads has something invaluable: a permanent place to serve.

A place where someone without insurance can receive healthcare.

A place where a patient struggling financially can be treated with dignity rather than choosing between caring for their health and meeting another basic need.

A place where volunteers can use their God-given gifts to serve others.

A place where someone going through one of life's hardest seasons can find compassion, prayer, healing, and hope.

Cornerstone Worship Center's heart for ministry is reflected in three simple words: Worship. Equip. Relate. They believe that ministry reaches beyond Sunday morning and that Christians are called to intentionally use their gifts to meet the needs of the community around them.

Crossroads Center is living proof of that commitment.

Every patient cared for on this property, every volunteer who serves, every prayer offered, and every life changed is part of the legacy created by an incredibly generous act of faith and service in 2023.

⛪ Lead Community Partner Spotlight: Emerald Coast Church Network ⛪
Some partnerships support a mission, while others are woven into its very foundation.

Today’s spotlight is especially meaningful because the histories of Emerald Coast Church Network (ECCN) and Crossroads Center have been intertwined for nearly two decades.

Crossroads Center Medical Clinic began in 2007, during the years of the former Choctaw Baptist Association. In 2009, the clinic relocated to the campus of Valparaiso First Baptist Church, now Cornerstone Worship Center. What began as a vision to serve has grown into a ministry that provides hope, healing, and compassionate care to our neighbors in need.

Emerald Coast Church Network brings together Southern Baptist churches throughout our region in a shared commitment to the Great Commission, strengthening churches, serving communities, and making Christ known.

Different congregations. Different communities. One shared mission.

This partnership reflects what we deeply believe at Crossroads Center: we were never meant to do ministry alone.

When churches work together, resources are multiplied, relationships are strengthened, needs are recognized, and communities are transformed. Partnerships like this enable ministries such as Crossroads Center to meet people at some of their most vulnerable moments with compassionate healthcare, dignity, prayer, and the hope of Christ.

To the pastors, churches, congregations, leaders, and volunteers who make up the Emerald Coast Church Network: thank you. Thank you for the foundation you helped establish, for the prayers and support offered over the years, and for continuing to believe in what can happen when the Church comes together to serve.

Nearly two decades later, the seeds planted through this partnership continue to bear fruit—and countless lives have been touched because people were willing to answer God’s call.
