A haunted house but you’re a behavior analyst AND a toddler mama. 👻💀

Ay, bendito. 😂

Because apparently having a master’s degree, years of clinical experience, and an entire toolbox of behavioral strategies does NOT exempt you from the toddler trenches.

Do I know the science behind the behavior? Absolutely.

Does that mean I always have the patience to implement what I know at 7:43 PM after a full day of work? Absolutely NOT. 😂

And that’s your friendly reminder that even your local behavior analyst is out here navigating toddlerhood one visual timer, deep breath, and cafecito at a time. ☕️

We’re all learning. We’re all adjusting. And sometimes, we’re all just trying to survive bedtime.

Fall in Florida 🍂🎃 Where we pretend it’s sweater weather while sweating through our pumpkin patch pictures. 😂

One of our FAVORITE fall activities is Kerby’s Nursery, and here’s why this mama AND behavior analyst loves it!

🔎 Scavenger Hunt: A fun way to explore with a little purpose! Plus, who doesn’t love a FREE pumpkin at the end?!

🎨 Pumpkin Decorating Competition: The creativity is unreal! We love seeing everyone’s designs and getting inspired. The staff creates them and we VOTE!

🚧 Fenced-In Space: Because toddlers have places to be, and apparently walking next to mamá isn’t always on their agenda. 😅

🍂 Go at Your Own Pace: THIS is my favorite part! No rushing, no pressure to participate in everything. Explore, take breaks, and enjoy what works for YOUR family.

One of our AMA families visited Kerby’s for a community outing alongside our team last year and LOVED it!

Perks of being a community-based ABA provider! 🙌🏼 Learning doesn’t have to happen within four walls. Sometimes it looks like exploring a pumpkin patch, practicing flexibility, following a scavenger hunt, or simply experiencing something new with the support of a familiar therapist.

As a behavior analyst, I love finding opportunities that allow our learners to practice meaningful skills in real-life environments. And as a mama? Sometimes I just want to enjoy a fall outing without feeling like we’re running an obstacle course. 😂

Friendly reminder: Not every family outing needs to look picture-perfect. Follow your child’s lead, celebrate the little wins, and remember that taking a break or leaving early doesn’t mean the outing wasn’t successful.

Current openings are for morning hours, a great fit if you want your afternoons free or are building your schedule around school or family.

Our toddler’s first movie theater experience didn’t exactly go as Pinterest would have planned. 🎬😅

She ran. She purposely yelled. She tested every boundary you could imagine.

And you know what? We left.

Not because it was easier.
Not because she was “being bad.”
Not because we wanted her first movie experience to become about being “in trouble” for acting like…well…a toddler.

We left because there were other families there who deserved to enjoy their movie too. Sometimes the most respectful choice is recognizing that our child isn’t ready yet. And that’s okay.

As behavior analysts, we spend so much time encouraging families to expose their children to new environments, routines, and experiences. What we don’t always talk about is that those first attempts are often messy.

The first haircut.
The first restaurant.
The first grocery store trip.
The first movie.

There are so many unknowns.

Sometimes they surprise you. Sometimes they struggle. Sometimes you make it 20 minutes before packing everything up and heading home.

Y eso también cuenta. 💛

But can I tell you something?

Hearing her excitedly yell “PAH-TAH-TOE HEAD!” at the top of her little lungs when Mr. Potato Head came on the screen made every ounce of discomfort worth it. 😂❤️

It wasn’t the perfect movie experience…but it was her first movie experience. One we’ll laugh about for years.

Every outing gives us information. Every new experience is an opportunity to learn—not just for our children, but for us as parents too.

We’ll try again another day. We’ll prepare a little differently. And one day, she’ll probably sit through an entire movie while I’m wondering where my wild toddler went.

Until then, here’s your reminder from your local friendly behavior analyst (who also happens to be a toddler mom): success isn’t always staying until the credits roll.

Sometimes success is having the courage to try, respecting the people around you, leaving when it’s the right choice, and remembering the joy your child found along the way.

Nuestros niños no necesitan padres perfectos. Solo necesitan que sigamos mostrándoles el mundo, one experience at a time. 🤍

Esperar es una habilidad... no algo que los niños “simplemente deberían saber.” Es una de las cosas más útiles que podemos enseñar. Empieza pequeño:

1. Pide una espera cortita que sabes que pueden lograr (“Un minuto más”)
2. Acompáñalo con algo visual (un timer, tus dedos)
3. Reconoce la espera, no solamente el resultado (“¡Esperaste con tanta calma!”)

Luego, poco a poco, aumenta el tiempo. La vida real está llena de esperas: filas, hermanos, el microondas. Práctica primero en momentos tranquilos. Guarda esto para después. 💗

One we hear a lot: “Can my other kids be part of sessions?” 🧒🧒 Absolutely! Siblings can be wonderful natural teaching partners for turn-taking, play, and communication, and it helps skills carry over to real family life. It depends on the goals and the child, so we plan it thoughtfully together. Family-centered means the whole family. Have a question about how sessions work? Drop it below or DM us.

Waiting is a skill... not something kids “should just know.” It’s one of the most useful things we can teach. Start tiny:
1. Ask for a short wait you KNOW they can do (“1 more minute”)
2. Pair it with something visual (a timer, your fingers)
3. Praise the wait, not just the result (“You waited so calmly!”)
Then slowly stretch the time. Real life is full of waiting: lines, siblings, the microwave. Practice in calm moments first. Save for later. 💛

If there’s one reminder I have to give myself over and over again, it’s this… tell them what TO do, not just what to stop doing. 🤍

Even your local friendly behavior analyst 🙋🏻‍♀️ needs this reminder in the middle of a busy day. 😅

Instead of focusing on the "no," try giving your child a clear direction they can actually follow:

✨ "Don't run" → "Walking feet, please." / Caminamos despacio.✨ "Don't throw" → "Blocks stay on the table."✨ "Stop yelling" → "Use your inside voice." / Voz de adentro, por favor.

Our kids aren't mind readers. The clearer we are, the more successful they can be. Pequeños cambios en nuestras palabras can make a BIG difference. 💛

One of the things I’m most grateful for isn’t having all the answers…. it’s building a team I trust.

Today, I got to step out of CEO mode and into mama mode when my girl needed me, without constantly worrying 👀

Not because nothing ever goes wrong, but because I know our team will step up, support one another, and continue providing the care our families deserve.

That’s the kind of company I’ve always wanted to build. A place where our team can lead with confidence, our families are supported, and I can be fully present when my family needs me.

To my team… thank you for holding down the fort. I don’t take it for granted 💗
