Alison believes that this practice of being true to oneself and honoring o

ne’s inner authenticity elicits a true quality of radiance. About Alison: Alison Christiansen, LCSW, RYT, and certified Reiki Master, was initially drawn to yoga as a practice for building and maintaining the strength and flexibility she had developed as a dancer of over 15 years. By practicing yoga and mindfulness, Alison quickly discovered the joy and power of living in the present moment. When she was introduced to Kripalu yoga, while on retreat with her mother, she was attracted to the tradition’s emphasis on self-compassion and self-inquiry. Alison completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2012. Her instructing is complimented by additional trainings focused on trauma-sensitive yoga and therapeutic yoga techniques. Alison is currently a practicing clinical social worker, developing a specialty in helping individuals impacted by trauma heal through mindfulness-based modalities. Alison teaches yoga in both therapeutic and studio settings in the Ithaca/Cortland area.

Nourish yourself through intentional breath work, supportive movement, restorative postures and grounding meditation, all while connecting to the different elements found in the natural world. Inviting earth, water, fire, air and ether energies intentionally into your yoga practice can promote inner balance, vitality, flexibility and strength 🌳🌊🔥☁️💫

Summer so far 💛

I meeean, summer in central New York is pretty magical 🌟

Savoring the expansion, liveliness and green💚💚 Last summer I was in such deep grief, I felt so out of alignment with the brightness and abundance of this season, I was cocooned in our home for most of it and couldn’t bear to be out in a world that no longer physically had my Dad or my baby in it ❤️‍🩹 Though I’m still tender, I’m grateful this summer to take in the natural beauty around me 💕

Last week marked a year without our sweet boy 💙

It’s a heartbreak every single day and each day that I get is a tribute to him. The grief in losing him, losing your baby, doesn’t go away, it’s part of daily life I’m continuously learning how to live with and continuously getting to know the new me. An even deeper awareness of how fragile all of life is, giving myself grace and patience, and allowing moments of joy to still touch my heart.

I’m just grateful for family and friends who continue to remember and mourn him with us. For Evan, we’ve gone through not only our dreams but our biggest nightmares together - I won the lottery to have him by my side. I’m grateful for the other women I’ve met who’ve endured second trimester and late term pregnancy loss - the guiding lights in the dark. The worst club with the absolute best people ❤️ If you’ve experienced the devastation of stillbirth I’m right here with you - sharing our stories can undo so much aloneness ❤️

This lily in our backyard blossomed the day after we lost him, just one single bloom all season. It’s been blooming nonstop this summer 💙💙

So much abundance in Sunday’s Reiki Yoga! 🌺 The peace and depth of energy deepened with each restorative posture and felt so palpable in the room. The impacts of Reiki never cease to amaze me, I’m so humbled every time I get to work with others through this practice💓Gratitude to all who attended ☺️

Spring so far 🌼🌸🌷

Spring has been springing 💓 A trip out to Denver to celebrate and Andrew’s wedding ❤️ (Laura, how have we been friends 20 years now!?!) And a trip to Boston to celebrate a milestone birthday for my wonderful mom ☺️ Red Sox game of course in honor of Dad 💞

Been savoring and focusing on the joys and really cherishing the time with those I love and who make life so full 💖

A vibrant yoga practice focused on embracing light ☀️

While appreciating the expanding light of springtime into summer, mindfully reconnect to the light residing within. Together, we’ll explore soft stretching, steady breath and simple strengthening practices to help release stagnant energy while awakening to inner warmth and abundance.
