Hello Apothecary Circle,

While at Middleton place in Charleston, I noticed this beautiful Mullien growing out of the cracks in the old brick wall.

This just goes to show you how resilient these herbs can be.

Fun fact about Mullien, it loves to grow where dirt has been distributed. Whether that be due to construction, fire, natural disaster, or farming. This invasive comes in and helps replenish the soil, making it more suitable for natives to come back in to the land.

So it might seem like Mullien has moved into a space permanently by how much is growing in a given area, but there is a deeper meaning to what Mullien is doing in order to restore balance.

So it is important to see the beauty in these invasive species as most get a bad rep. This also means we can take advantage of harvesting them.

Hello Apothecary Circle,

Things have started to feel surreal today as I applied for graduation for my aromatherapy program at the American College of Healthcare Sciences. With only 3 weeks left, time has just flown by and I am truly so excited!

With this comes lots of changes as I will be implementing a new software to my business that will allow clients to schedule appointments (including telehealth), allow me to send invoices, and will help give me a HIPAA compliant database for messaging, chats, soap notes, and client records.

After I graduate I will be applying for membership through the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA), the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), and the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA).

Good afternoon Apothecary Circle,

I had the honor of making to custom tea blends for a client.

The first is a fruity beverage blend, consisting of dried orange peel, freeze dried blueberries, hibiscus, stevia leaf, and rose hips. This was a very fun blend to make as I usually don’t make a lot of beverage blends so this gave me an opportunity to use some creativity.

The second was a sleep aid tea consisting of California poppy, hops, lavender, and lemon balm. This tea is full of nervine and calming/ sedative herbs that nourish and tone the central nervous system to help move the mind/body towards the parasympathetic nervous system therefore inducing the rest and digest phase. These herbs are truly some of my favorite herbs to work with and observe their wondrous tranquility they bring over the systems.

Good morning Apothecary Circle,

What a beautiful way to start the day. Along with this beautiful sunset, I wanted to share that I have just completed the last of my homework assignments for Rosemary Gladstars “the Science and Art of Herbalism” course. So now all I have left to do is try to wait ever so patiently for my assignment to be graded and then I will get my certificate!

Such a great start to an incredible journey! The most exciting part is that the certificate will be signed by none other than Rosemary herself which kind of feels like an autograph to me.

Happy Independence Day Apothecary Circle!!

Did you know?

🌿Peppermint became one of America’s favorite garden herbs. It was commonly enjoyed as a tea after meals and used traditionally to ease digestive discomfort.

🌼Yarrow was traditionally carried by settlers and Indigenous peoples alike. It was valued for its traditional use in helping stop minor bleeding and supporting wound care.

🌿Sage was commonly grown in colonial kitchen gardens. Early Americans valued it for seasoning food and as a traditional household herb for sore throats and digestive support.

Fun Fact: Before pharmacies were common, many American households relied on a small herb garden, growing plants for cooking, teas, simple home remedies, and everyday wellness.

Good morning Apothecary Circle,

I was harvesting more Mullien flowers and turns out I am not the only one enjoying them this morning! This adorable bumble bee was harvesting pollen from the beautiful Mullien flowers.

It was so adorable! I always make sure to leave behind some blooms or berries for our bug and animal friends.
