June is Scoliosis Awareness Month! 🦴

While scoliosis is often associated with children and adolescents, it can affect individuals of all ages. Early recognition and appropriate management can make a significant difference in long-term function, comfort, and quality of life.

We're sharing this post from JPT Kids to help raise awareness about some of the early signs parents may notice. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, or healthcare provider, understanding what to look for can help children receive the support they need.

Have questions about scoliosis or concerns about posture, balance, or back pain? Our team is here to help.

🦴 June is Scoliosis Awareness Month 🦴

Did you know that scoliosis is often painless and can go unnoticed in growing children?

Some signs parents may notice include:
β€’ One shoulder higher than the other
β€’ Uneven waistline
β€’ One hip appearing higher
β€’ Ribs that stick out more on one side
β€’ Clothing that hangs unevenly

Many cases are first noticed during periods of rapid growth. Early identification can help families understand treatment options and monitor changes over time.

If you have concerns about your child's posture or development, talk with your pediatrician or reach out to a pediatric physical therapist.

One of the biggest goals in physical therapy is helping people get back to the things they love most. For this patient, that was pickleball.

After dealing with ankle pain for months and continuing to play through a torn tendon, he finally underwent ankle reconstruction surgery. From day one of rehab, his biggest concern was simple: β€œWill I be able to get back to playing pickleball the way I did before surgery?”

The challenge with recovery is always finding the balance... not pushing too fast, but also not holding back too much. Together, we built a plan that progressed at the right speed for HIM.

Step by step, we worked through strength, mobility, balance, and confidence until he was able to return to:
βœ… Jogging
βœ… Cutting & changing directions
βœ… Planting
βœ… Jumping

Seeing patients regain confidence in their bodies and return to the activities they love is what makes this job so rewarding.

Recovery is a process, but with the right plan and consistency, great things can happen. πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ“ GRADUATION DAY at Jones Physical Therapy! πŸŽ‰

He heard good things about Jones PT and drove from Ocean Springs to find out for himself. That kind of trust means the world to us, and we were not going to let him down.

He came to us fresh off a knee replacement, and if you know anything about knee replacements, you already know: they hurt. There is no sugarcoating it. Some days he walked through the door in real pain, and that is exactly where we met him. πŸ’ͺ

Because here is something people do not always know: even in the painful early stages of recovery, there is so much we can do. Swelling management. Pain control. Targeted modalities including ice and hands on care that start moving the needle from day one. We do not wait for the pain to go away. We work through it with you.

And he responded. Quickly.

That did not surprise us once we learned who we were working with. This man is a former motocross athlete. He has spent his life pushing himself to the limit, and that same mentality carried him through every session. He showed up, did the work, and refused to quit. ❀️

His knee is not just recovered. It is a foundation for everything ahead. More life. More movement. More of the activities that make him who he is.

πŸŽ“ GRADUATION DAY at Jones Physical Therapy! πŸŽ‰

Sometimes the best thing a friend can do is point you in the right direction.

This patient came to us on the recommendation of someone who had been in her shoes and trusted us with their care. That kind of referral means everything to us, and we do not take it lightly.

She arrived with years of hip and low back pain that had quietly been stealing something she loves: walking. Not just any walking. Hills. Her neighborhood. A specific hill she had been eyeing and wanting to conquer. But after about a mile, the pain would show up and shut it all down. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

After a thorough evaluation we found the root cause and got to work. The first few weeks brought meaningful progress, but we did not stop there. Six to seven weeks in, she had achieved substantial relief. Not just β€œa little better.” Real, life-changing reduction in pain.

The last stretch of her care? That is where she showed us who she is. We kept pushing. She kept showing up. She put in the endurance. She put in the time. And she trusted the process every single step of the way. ❀️

She left with a full home program and the tools to manage her body long term. Our goal is never just to fix the problem in the clinic. We want to teach you to fish, or in her case, to climb the hill. πŸ”οΈ

To the friend who referred her: thank you. Word of mouth is the highest compliment we can receive, and it changes lives.

Welcome to the Jones PT family. We are so glad you found us. 🏑

πŸŽ“ GRADUATION DAY at Jones Physical Therapy!

We recently had the privilege of working with a truly special patient who came to us after years of struggling with hip, low back, and SI joint pain. After a thorough evaluation, we identified the root cause: specific hip weakness that had been quietly building into bigger problems over time. πŸ’ͺ

What happened next honestly surprised even us. She responded faster than expected, and before long she was completely pain free and back to doing what she loves most, including getting outside and fishing.

But here's what made this case stand out beyond the clinical wins: this woman is a fighter. Even while navigating real hardship in her personal life, she showed up, did the work, and never stopped thinking about others before herself. That kind of heart is rare.

We made sure she left with a full home exercise program so she has the tools to manage her body long term. Our goal is never just to fix the problem in the clinic. We want to teach you to fish... literally and figuratively.

It is an honor to do what we do, and patients like her are exactly why we opened our doors.

Welcome to the Jones PT family. We are so glad you found us.

May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month πŸ’™πŸ¦“

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome affects connective tissue throughout the body and can impact both children and adults in many different ways, including joint instability, chronic pain, fatigue, delayed motor development, poor coordination, frequent injuries, and difficulty with daily activities.

Physical therapy plays an important role in helping individuals with EDS improve strength, stability, balance, endurance, posture, and overall function while helping reduce pain and protect joints. For children, PT can also support gross motor development, coordination, and confidence with movement skills. For adults, therapy often focuses on improving quality of life, activity tolerance, and safe movement strategies.

Research continues to support the benefits of individualized exercise and stabilization programs for people with hypermobility and EDS. One study published in the journal Disability and Rehabilitation found that targeted strengthening and proprioceptive exercises can help improve joint stability and decrease pain in individuals with hypermobility disorders.

At Jones Physical Therapy and JPT Kids, we’re proud to support both pediatric and adult patients with personalized care designed to help them move safer, grow stronger, and stay active. πŸ’™
