At Fircrest Behavioral Health, we offer a number of services to support people who want to reach for health in their mind, body, and soul so that they can live their life’s full potential. Neurofeedback is a noninvasive process that translates brain waves into visual/ auditory and tactile feedback to train and improve brain function. With nerurofeedback, we can retrain the brain to create new path

ways; calm anxiety, help with focus, improve headaches and muscle tension, and relax reactive behaviors. Neurofeedback can help a person learn how to control, or self-regulate their brain waves.

Is Play Therapy Really Just Playing?

Many parents have questions about play therapy—and plenty of misconceptions can make it difficult to know whether it's the right fit for their child.

The reality is that play therapy is a research-supported approach that helps children express emotions, process experiences, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills through their natural language: play.

You'll learn:
✔ What play therapy is (and isn't)
✔ Signs your child may benefit from additional support

We recently published a blog that hits on something we see pretty often with first responders and ER professionals:

Sometimes the stress response that helps you do your job starts affecting your relationships too.

A lot of people don’t realize how easy it is to stay stuck in “crisis mode” even after the shift is over. It can show up as irritability, emotional distance, shutting down, conflict at home, or just feeling disconnected from the people you care about.

This post talks about why that happens and how couples counseling can help.

When your job is built around emergencies, it can be hard to turn that mode off when you get home. Many first responders, ER professionals, military families, and other high-pressure helpers know this feeling well.

It’s with a heavy heart that the Fircrest Family says goodbye to our dear little furry friend, Ducky.

Ducky was a hamster that loved to play, interact, explore, and comfort clients, young and old. He lived a long and happy life in the ever loving care of our own child therapist, Kristina Hargie, along with countless kiddos and families who have been blessed to receive his gentle snuggles while processing life’s greatest challenges. We will have a special little wall set up starting tomorrow, where we invite family and friends to friends to write notes and draw pictures to honor our little therapeutic companion.

We will miss you, little Ducky! Thank you for loving so many, so well.
