Boundaries are not about pushing people away.

They help you protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being so your relationships have room to be healthier, too.

It can feel uncomfortable to set a limit, especially if you’re used to putting others first. Start small: a pause before saying yes, or a simple “I can’t take that on right now.”

If you’d like support practicing boundaries with more confidence, Blue Leaf is here.

What are EMDR and G-TEP?

If you've never heard these terms before, you're not alone.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy approach that helps people process distressing experiences so they no longer feel as emotionally overwhelming.

G-TEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol) brings some of those same principles into a structured, therapist-guided group format. During the Virtual Trauma Relief Group, you'll work through guided exercises at your own pace, using worksheets and simple techniques to support your own healing.

One thing many people find reassuring is that there's no expectation to share the details of your experience with the group. The focus is on your individual process in a supportive setting.

If you've been curious about what G-TEP actually is, we hope this helps make it feel a little more familiar.

This group is intended for adults seeking support with past distressing experiences and is not a crisis service or a substitute for emergency mental health care.

Ask a Blue Leaf Therapist: What if I'm not sure I need therapy?
================================================
Danielle Kershner, LMHCA shares her thoughts.
What if I'm not sure I need therapy?
It is completely normal to ask this. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

Therapy isn't just for life's hardest moments.

It's also a space for personal growth, self-discovery, and building the life you truly want.

Should I even start therapy?
Yes! Therapy is for anyone ready to explore who they are and create a more fulfilling life.

Therapy offers a safe and collaborative space to work on your personal goals, whether that is getting to know yourself better, improving your relationships, or discovering how to best care for yourself.

What if I'm not sure I need therapy?
There's no wrong time to start therapy. Whether you're navigating a storm or seeking reconnection and growth, taking that first step is an act of hope—and you don't have to do it alone.

Boundaries aren’t about shutting people out.

They’re a way to make room for what helps you feel safe, respected, and more like yourself.

If you’d like support while you sort through these subtle shifts, our team at Blue Leaf is here to walk with you.

It’s normal for your idea of “healing” to change as you learn more about yourself.

You’re allowed to outgrow old goals, let go of timelines that no longer fit, and choose gentler markers of progress.

Healing can look like fewer really hard days, more small moments of ease, or gently feeling a bit more on your own side.

If you’d like support in redefining what healing means for you now, our team at Blue Leaf is here to help you explore that.

Sometimes a difficult experience doesn't stay in the past.

You may find yourself thinking about it more than you'd like. Certain memories keep coming back. Or you notice feeling on edge, unsettled, or reacting more strongly than you expect.

That doesn't necessarily mean something is "wrong" with you. Sometimes our minds and bodies need a little more support to fully process difficult experiences.

The Virtual Trauma Relief Group offers a structured, therapist-guided way to begin that process in a safe, supportive setting. Participants work at their own pace, with no expectation to share the details of their experience with the group.

If you've been wondering why you can't seem to stop thinking about what happened, this may be a helpful place to learn more.

Blue Leaf therapist Robert Leary shares his thoughts on how to tell if you're a good fit to work together.

"If you're looking for a therapist who will be honest, compassionate, and willing to explore difficult things alongside you.

"My approach is direct, but always grounded in kindness. I believe healing begins when it's safe to tell yourself the truth without judgment. If that resonates with you, I'd be honored to support your journey."
-- Robert Leary

Ask a Blue Leaf therapist: What happens in the first therapy session?
================================
Robert Leary, LMHC, shares his thoughts.

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other.

You will have space to share, at a comfortable pace, what brings you to therapy.

My job is to listen without judgement, make sure I understand what you are thinking and feeling, and answer your questions about the therapy process.
Together, we will start identifying what’s most important to you.

You don’t have to have all the answers–that’s something we discover together along the way.

We will discuss a meaningful path forward–one you can believe in. And we will get started on your journey to your next big adventure.
