Sometimes positioning is everything.
When my hand fits right into that upper trap/neck area, I can support the tissue without forcing it.

Most people think this tool only “scrapes.”

Here I’m using the edge of the instrument in a sweeping motion to glide through the tissue. Different parts of the instrument create different sensations and give me different options depending on what I’m feeling.

No two treatments are exactly the same.

Most people think Graston is only about the scraping edge.

Here I’m using the k***s on the GT1 (bar handle) to perform what’s called a swivel using focused pressure while changing direction through the tissue.

It’s another way I adapt the instrument based on what I’m feeling under my hands. Every session is different.

Most people call this “scraping” or “blading.”

The technique is called Graston Technique®, and it’s one of the tools I use to help improve tissue mobility and movement. Depending on what I’m feeling, I might glide the instrument, use the edge, or even use the k***s for more focused pressure.

It’s never about making the tissue hurt, it’s about helping it move better.

During this session I remembered using a simple dowel rod and decided to experiment with it. I like the leverage it gave me and allowed even pressure while using my body weight.

I’m always learning, experimenting, refining my approach.

This is where education, trust, and proper draping come together.

Working the pecs can make a huge difference for neck pain,
especially if you spend your day at a computer or on your phone.

This isn’t an SRT protocol. It’s a technique I’ve incorporated into my own style of bodywork.
