Hospice care should offer dignity, not deception. Dishonest operators are increasingly targeting Ventura County families, exploiting people at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

Our President and CEO, Molly Corbett, recently published an op-ed in local media to expose the rising threat of hospice fraud. As the county’s only nonprofit home health and hospice provider, our priority is keeping our community informed and protected.

One of the overlooked dangers is the human toll:

"The human cost of hospice fraud and neglect… is not only money improperly billed to Medicare. It’s pain that may go unmanaged, calls that go unanswered, and precious time consumed by fear and frustration.”

Thank you, Gold Coast Health Plan, for 15 years of dedication to our community's health!

Today we celebrate a major milestone with one of our local health partners. Since July 1, 2011, GCHP has grown from serving 100,000 members with a team of 25 into a health plan of over 220,000 members and nearly 400 dedicated staff.

At Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, we are proud to partner with Gold Coast Health Plan to ensure Ventura County's Medi-Cal members and their families have access to the care and services they need. We look forward to continuing our work together for many years to come!

We were deeply moved to celebrate the life and legacy of Patricia Lowe at our 15th Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon. Pat’s story is one of remarkable persistence; she immigrated to the U.S. at age 20 with nearly no English and only a middle school education, and she came here with the passionate belief that education brought infinite possibility. After arriving, Pat worked her way through college, raised eight children, became a savvy investor and visionary benefactor, and managed a bustling family and medical practice alongside her husband, Edwin.

Pat’s greatest gift was her commitment to the future. Throughout her 98 years, her legendary generosity provided private education for more than 100 students both locally and abroad —supporting some all the way through medical school. Through her efforts, she changed the trajectory of countless lives. We are so proud to honor Pat’s tireless work ethic and her enormous heart, which continue to be felt by the generations of students and family members she championed.

Her journey is an inspiration to us all at Livingston, and we thank the Lowe family for sharing Pat’s legacy with us.

We were honored to celebrate the life and legacy of Brianne McGrath at this year’s Mother’s Day Luncheon — a woman whose life story spans continents and whose heart has always remained rooted in community. After moving from Denmark to California in 1950, Brianne eventually settled in Ventura County, where she and her husband, Tom, raised four daughters and dedicated themselves to uplifting those around them.

Born in Toronto to a Danish resistance hero and a psychiatric nurse, Brianne McGrath’s life has always been defined by resilience and adventure. From her childhood in Copenhagen to settling at the Flying M Ranch in Bardsdale, Brianne and her late husband, Tom, built a life centered on family, travel, and a shared passion for cheering on their four daughters at every turn.

Beyond her roles as a mother and a talented artist, Brianne’s heart for service has left a permanent mark on our community. Alongside Tom, she became a cornerstone of support for the Boys & Girls Club and Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association. Today, that legacy of public service lives on through her daughters and the Tom McGrath Teen Center, a testament to a life lived with purpose and a deep love for Ventura County.

Her life is an inspiration to us all at Livingston, and we thank the McGrath family for sharing Brianne’s legacy with us.
