Health Care Foundation for Ventura County (HCFVC) is pleased to recognize Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) Obstetrics (OB) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) teams for earning five awards honoring the exceptional care they provide to moms and babies across the Ventura County community.

VCMC was recognized for high-quality maternity care, helping first-time moms avoid unnecessary C-sections, quickly identifying and treating dangerous high blood pressure, and providing specialized care for premature and high-risk babies.

These awards reflect the teamwork and dedication of VCMC staff who work every day to keep moms and babies safe, supported and close to home. Please join HCFVC in congratulating the VCMC OB and NICU teams on this well-earned recognition!

Are you or someone you know preparing to welcome a new baby? VCMC offers free virtual prenatal classes and monthly Birth Center tours.

Upcoming prenatal classes: 9/16, 9/23, 11/11, 11/18 & 11/25 from 6–8 p.m.

Upcoming Birth Center tours: 10/13, 11/10 & 12/8 at 4:30, 5:00 & 5:30 p.m.

Welcome 2026 HOPE (Healthcare Occupation Pipeline Education)students , our potential future healthcare workforce. What a phenomenal group of students. A big thank you to Paula Areias and Dr. Cheryl Lambing for your continued commitment in providing an opportunity to youth from every city in our county. Students, as promised, here is our selfie. It was a great time test driving and teaching a proper handshake, power of public speaking, getting mentors in your journey, and the power of philanthropy in healthcare. Join me in thanking Friendship Star Quilters for sharing their time, talent and treasure stitch quilts made especially for our NICU and Palliative Care patients. HCFVC extends a heartfelt thank you to Driscoll's for their continued impact in strengthening health care across Ventura County. This generous donation of over $25,000 was raised during the 2026 Independent Growers Conference and designated by Driscoll’s growers, who selected Health Care Foundation for Ventura County as the recipient. Their choice reflects a shared commitment to giving back to the communities where their berries are grown, harvested, and where so many growers live and contribute.

The ongoing support of Driscoll’s has expanded diabetes care and strengthened language access and interpreter services, among many other initiatives. This investment directly benefits patients served by Ventura County Health Care Agency and helps ensure equitable, high-quality care for all.

In loving memory of Derek Folk, a dedicated and longtime HCFVC Board Member whose leadership, compassion, and commitment to service made a lasting impact on our community. Derek played an integral role in advancing HCFVC’s mission, bringing strong business acumen and a clear vision that helped guide the organization forward. His passion for health equity and for educating the next generation of healthcare professionals was a priority he deemed critical in assessing the current landscape.

Beyond his service on the Board, Derek was a dear friend whose charisma, generosity, and natural ability to make others feel like they had known him for years left a lasting impression on everyone he met. On behalf of the HCFVC team, Board of Directors, and the County of Ventura, we honor Derek’s legacy and the many lives he touched throughout our community and beyond.
