This week we are spotlighting Corinne, our wonderful Operations and Billing Manager who works in our Vernon and Willimantic offices! Corinne has been with us for 8 years, beginning as a Dental Assistant and transitioning into a management position. Corinne loves building lasting relationships with patients and seeing the joy on their faces after getting their teeth fixed or getting dentures for the first time. Her biggest piece of advice for your smile is, “You know your teeth and your mouth. If something feels off, call. It doesn't hurt to text us or reach out to us to see if it's worth coming in. Definitely keep up on your 6 month cleanings!” Corinne keeps busy outside of the office with her soon-to-be 14 year old daughter, 3 cats, and dog.

Next time you’re in, ask Corinne about her band geek days! She was first chair in high school playing piccolo and flute!

This week we are spotlighting Rafa, our incredible Lead Dental Assistant who works in our Vernon and Willimantic offices! Rafa first joined the team 12 years ago, and has been beloved by patients ever since! Rafa loves that Connecticut East Dental Center gives him the opportunity to be a part of such a diverse team. The best part of his job is when he is the reason patients leave with a smile on their face. His advice for a healthy smile is, “Rinse your mouth with warm water after each meal”. When he isn’t assisting at CT East, you can find Rafa dancing or enjoying good Spanish food. He loves visiting Disney, especially Animal Kingdom.

Rafa is a big Knicks fan, so next time you’re in you can celebrate their historic win together!

This week we are spotlighting Barbara, our wonderful Practice Manager who works out of our Vernon office! Barbara has been a part of the Connecticut East Dental Center since before we first opened our doors 19 years ago. As Dr. Khan’s wife, she has been a part of making Connecticut East a warm and welcoming environment from the earliest planning stages. Barbara’s favorite thing about working with patients is getting to meet so many interesting and wonderful people, many of which have turned into friends over the years. Barbara also loves that Connecticut East Dental Center is a true family business, with all three of her children working here over the years. When she isn’t at the office, Barbara spends every possible minute with her 5 month old grandson. One of her favorite things to do, besides play with her grandson, is travel to MLB parks with her son, Zak.

Next time you’re in, ask Barbara about her travels through Europe! She’s visited 13 countries (14 if you count East and West Germany as separate countries, which they were when she completed her exchange program!)

Good news—you don't have to give up chocolate to have a healthy smile! 😁

In fact, chocolate is generally a better choice for your teeth than sticky or chewy candies because it doesn't cling to your teeth as long. The key is enjoying it in moderation and practicing good oral hygiene afterward.

Here are a few smile-friendly tips:
🪥 Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
🧵 Don't forget to floss—especially after enjoying sweets!
💧 Drink water after your treat to help rinse away sugar.
🦷 Keep up with your 6 month dental cleanings and exams!

This week we are spotlighting Dr. Khan, our wonderful dentist and owner who works in both our Vernon and Willimantic offices! Dr. Khan has studied and trained in dentistry across three continents, most recently graduating from Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2006. Dr. Khan is passionate about providing high quality dental care to all patients, and has been doing so at Connecticut East Dental Center since we first opened our doors in 2007. When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Khan is usually tending to his yard. He greatly enjoys taking the time to create the perfect backyard oasis. When he wraps up his landscaping, he can be found watching the Red Sox, Chelsea F.C., or cricket, often with his 5 month old grandson!
