We are incredibly excited to announce that Therapeutic Plasma Exchange is now available at Ikaria Concierge!

Therapeutic Plasma Exchange or TPE is a cutting edge procedure that works by removing the plasma from a patient's blood and replacing it with fresh plasma or a plasma substitute. The goal is to eliminate harmful proteins, antibodies, and other substances that may be contributing to inflammation, neurological decline, autoimmune conditions, and accelerated aging at the cellular level.

What drew us to offering TPE at Ikaria is the growing body of research suggesting that refreshing the plasma may support cognitive function, reduce systemic inflammation, and promote overall cellular health in a way that complements the comprehensive approach we already take with every patient.❤️

There is a growing body of research exploring the connection between insulin resistance and cognitive decline including Alzheimer's disease.

Some researchers have begun referring to Alzheimer's disease as Type 3 Diabetes because of the role insulin resistance may play in how the brain processes glucose and functions over time. While research in this area is ongoing the connection between metabolic health and brain health is something we consider when looking at the full picture of a patient's wellbeing.

This is one of the many reasons we take a functional medicine approach at Ikaria.
