Happy Labor Day everyone! Enjoy some rest and recuperation if you are able to, and think about the blessings of being able to work and enjoy life💕

What does NMT stand for, and how can you use it in massage for your horse?

Neuromuscular Trigger Therapy can be helpful in releasing tension in the muscles. You can use this technique pretty much anywhere a muscle exists. Sometimes it’s light continuous pressure, and other times it’s a deeper pressure. One of my favorites because it can help relieve tension in a quick way💕

“Sweating” a horse can be beneficial in bringing relief and relaxation to the area. This is where patience comes in🤩

Did you know the horse’s stifle is our knee? I love being able to work on this body part because I know for a fact that my knees hurt a lot, and a massage can be so helpful 💕

Why not help a horse out with a tight or sore stifle??

Working on releasing some facial tension 💕

Why do the Back Muscles Matter in a Ridden Horse?

A horse’s back is much more than a place for the saddle to sit. The back muscles help the horse stabilize the spine, carry the rider, engage the core, and transfer power from the hindquarters.

When the back is tight or weak, you may notice:
• Restricted movement
• Difficulty stretching over the topline
• Resistance in transitions or collection
• Trouble engaging the hindquarters
• Sensitivity when grooming or saddling

A strong, supple back allows the horse to move more freely and carry the rider more comfortably.

✨ A horse that can use its back correctly can carry us better!

I was so blessed to be able to see the wedding of Cayden and Jayne. Jayne and I grew up together, and I babysat a lot when she was younger. So many memories throughout the years, and I was so happy to be there spending time with my sisters and family/friends🥰

I then wanted to take pictures with my ring with Hope, and she wasn’t really getting it, so we laughed really hard and finally got some good shots❤️

Back to my regular content tomorrow 😍

Belly scratches are the best!! I would’ve liked to see more rounding in her back, but for her age, confirmation, and what she’s done in her life, that’s completely normal💕

She was loving it 😍

This boy has some wither tension which was kind of challenging to work on because he was in my space the whole time!

He was so antsy, but by the end of the session I was able to see a lot of difference. He definitely tested my patience, but sometimes those ones can have the best out come, and greatest releases❤️

Releasing that jaw tension, but also lower and upper neck tension as a result of using my hands in his mouth💕

He released so nicely, and it helped create relaxation as the session continued😍

Funny how you may start a massage and think, “this is how it will go.” Then other things happen, and the surprises just keep coming!

You’ve gotta be willing to customize each massage for each horse, and meet them where they are at to really be able to help them fully💕

He definitely taught me a lot as I was working on him, and what a sweet old gentleman he was😍
