🚸 Rethinking “Be Careful” During Play 🚸
When kids are exploring, climbing, balancing, and taking healthy risks, hearing “be careful” doesn’t always teach them how to stay safe. Instead, try giving specific cues that help them build body awareness, problem-solving skills, and confidence!
✨ Try saying:
• “Watch where your feet are going.”
• “Find a steady spot for your feet.”
• “Take your time moving.”
• “Look where you want your body to go.”
• “Use your hands to help.”
• “Make a plan before you jump.”
• “You can do hard things!”
These simple prompts encourage children to think about their movements, assess their environment, and develop the skills they need to navigate challenges independently.
💡 The goal isn’t to eliminate risk—it’s to help kids learn how to manage it safely and confidently.
