Rita Nell Hartwell, 75, of Moores Hill passed away at 4:55 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Gradyville in Adair County, Kentucky on July 17, 1950, the daughter of Rev. John and Lora Bolt Bassett. She was married to Tom Hartwell and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2016. Survivors include one son Joshua Ray Hartwell; one brother Ron (Molly) Bassett of Palm Harbor, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Anna Libunao. Mrs. Hartwell was a 1968 graduate of Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky Wesleyan University and her Master’s Degree in education from Indiana University. She had worked as an educator, teaching at the Moores Hill Elementary School and was a member of the Moores Hill Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 8 at the South Sparta Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Ann M. Black, 78, of Versailles passed away at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. She was born in Shelbyville on July 8, 1947, the daughter of Oscar and Florence Ott Foreman. She was married to Wayne Black on October 21,1971, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1994. Survivors include three brothers Ronnie (Nellie) Foreman of Greenfield, Larry (Donna) Foreman of Fairland, and Frank Foreman of Bedford. She was also preceded in death by her son Kelly Black, her parents, and her brothers Warren and Richard Foreman. Mrs. Black was a 1966 graduate of Morristown High School. She and Wayne moved to Osgood in 1987 and Ann worked as a dispatcher and secretary for the Indiana State Police Post in Versailles for 15 years. After retiring she worked at the Damm Theatre in Osgood and always enjoyed seeing neighbors and friends. She loved to travel with her brothers and different family members, especially bus trips, crocheting, and being outside working in her yard. Ann was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Osgood. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 9 at 12 p.m. at the St. John Catholic Church with Father Bill Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Esther L. Berner, 85, of Cross Plains passed away at 8:55 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026 at her home. She was born near Fairview in Switzerland County on June 27, 1940, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Rump Knigga. She was married to Leon Berner on February 20, 1960 at St. Peters Lutheran Church at Bear Branch and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2015. Survivors include one son Michael (Linda) Berner of Cross Plains; two daughters Kathleen (Robert) Daugherty of Vevay and Debra Berner of Mooresville; 7 grandchildren Erica (Kyle) Bechman, Natalie (Josh) Wheeler, Kevin Berner, Jenna (Jason) Kaylor, Steven Berner, Ashley (Adam) Crafton, Dakota (Andre) Crafton, and 10 great-grandchildren Jesse, Easton, Addi, Bryce, Jackson, Everly, Logan, Ava, AJ, and Andre; sister-in-law Eileen Knigga of Tell City. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dilver Knigga. Mrs. Berner was a 1958 graduate of Vevay High School and she worked for several years at Dillsboro Manor and at the Silver Bell Nursing Home near Versailles. She enjoyed feeding her birds, gardening, and helping Leon on the farm. Esther was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry for over 65 years where she participated in the Ladies Aid. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 2nd at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry with Pastor Jared Tucher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5p.m to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Carrie Van Quicksall, 78, of Lawrenceburg passed away at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in Petersburg, Kentucky on June 23, 1947, the daughter of Hurley Quicksall and Bethel Moore Quicksall Strickling. Survivors include one son Mark (Linda) Quicksall of Versailles; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one brother Eugene Quicksall of Lawrenceburg, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bobby and Clayton Quicksall, and her sister Christina “Teeney” Hussong. Mrs. Quicksall was a 1965 graduate of Lawrenceburg High School and she worked for over 40 years at Frisch’s in Lawrenceburg, retiring at age 62. Her smiling face and kind demeanor were a bright spot in the day for her many regular customers. Carrie enjoyed many trips to the Smokies with her beloved sister Teeney and niece Jo. She loved shopping at Wal-Mart, reading books, and watching her favorite shows like Walker Texas Ranger, NCIS, and Hallmark Christmas movies. She loved spending time with her son Mark and wife Linda, attending family events, and treasured the beach vacations she was able to take with them. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 15 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Justin Noppert officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 5 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Lions Club in care of the funeral home.

Tammy Sue Waldon, 61, of Moores Hill passed away at 12:35 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born in Lawrenceburg on March 1, 1965, the daughter of William Braden Jr. and Wanda Lutherbeck Braden. Survivors include two sons Jacob Waldon of Bright and Donald (DJ) Waldon and his wife Ali of Brooksville, Florida, along with 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Braden, Jr. and her sister Debbie. Ms. Waldon was a 1983 graduate of Lawrenceburg High School. She was a former employee of Anchor Glass in Greendale and the Milan Dollar General Store. She loved collecting porcelain dolls and knick-knacks. Tammy enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, spending time with her kids and grandkids, and her dog Tinker. Tammy’s wishes were to be cremated and services will be held later at the convenience of the family. Imogene Briggs, 92, of Versailles Indiana entered this life on March 7, 1934 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She came to rest on Sunday, May 3rd at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana surrounded by family.

She was the
loving daughter of Bruce and Mary Francis Willoughby and one of 12 siblings.

Imogene was raised in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and then moved with her family to China, Indiana. She graduated from Central High School in Madison, IN. Imogene
worked at Morton General Store in Pleasant and after relocating to Versailles became the owner of K & I Furniture and Hardware. Later she retired after more than 20 years of employment at Halcomb Home Center.

She was united in marriage to Kenny Morton and was blessed with four children; Linda, Debbie, Robin, and Mark. Kenny preceded her in death in 1991. She was then united in marriage to Robert Briggs who also preceded her in death in 2021.

Imogene was known for her wonderful cooking, sewing, craft skills, and last but not least her wonderful sense of humor which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events, making pies,
and creating Christmas crafts. Her spunky personality and wisdom will be missed by those that loved her most.

She is survived by her children: Linda Kelso, Versailles; Debbie (Kevin) Mack, Versailles; Robin Morton, Rexville; Mark (Lisa) Morton, Rising Sun. Grandchildren: Lindsey (Brandon) Seabolt; Casey (Derik) Hutton; Michele Kelso; Chris Kelso; Rusty Kelso. Great-grandchildren: Addison, Kamryn, Cooper Seabolt; Hawk, River, Stone Hutton; Hailey & Austin Miller; John, Jack, Isabella, Chloe Crawford; Tyler, Jasmine, Jessica, Chris Kelso; McKinley & Keenan Kelso along with four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 8th 2026 at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral home in Versailles, IN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM.

Jon B. Stegemiller, 72, of Cross Plains, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 2, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Jon was born on October 6, 1953, at Whitlatch Clinic in Milan, Indiana, to Francis “Fritz” I. Stegemiller and Mary Jeannette Brown of Cross Plains. He was a 1971 graduate of South Ripley High School and went on to graduate from Purdue University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a minor in conservation. A proud Boilermaker, Jon was a lifelong Purdue fan and, for better or worse, remained a loyal supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.

Jon dedicated 30 years of service to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, working in the Division of State Parks at Versailles, Clifty Falls, and Charlestown. Over the years, he served in many roles, including an award- winning licensed water distribution Class A wastewater operator, assistant manager, maintenance technician, and pool operator.

An avid outdoorsman, Jon loved hunting anything that crawled, swam, flew or gobbled. He was especially known for his passion for raising and breeding hunting dogs, earning national recognition for his coonhounds, beagles, and mountain feists. His love for the outdoors and his dogs was only matched by his dedication to family and friends.

Jon is survived by his loving wife, Robin Wall Stegemiller of Cross Plains; his daughter, Jayne Erin Stegemiller (Jeff Smith) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his stepson, Caleb M. Carlock (Sarah) of Sellersburg; his stepdaughter, Hannah M. Carlock of Noblesville; and two step-grandsons of Sellersburg. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Christy and Casey Speer; his sister, Janelle Stegemiller of Cross Plains; his brother, Jeff Stegemiller of Versailles; along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and hunting companions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Russell and Mable Wall; and his brother- and sister-in-law, David and Bonnie Wall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aurora Recreation Community Center in care of the Parkinson’s Exercise Class.

Jon will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of the outdoors, and the deep connections he built with those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories shared.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 6 at the Cross Plains Methodist Church with Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will also be on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10 a.m. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis "Mike" Bradley, 74 of Versailles was born November 14, 1951 in Holton, IN at his family home, the son of Wesley and Mazie Bradley. Mike attended school in Holton. Mike married Pamula Garvey on November 19, 1972 and this union was blessed with two sons and one daughter. Mike passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 6:05pm at his residence with his three children by his side.
Mike served his country with the United States Army during Vietnam. In his early working years, Mike was an independent semi operator for Western Express. In 1985, Mike opened Mike's Truck and Tractor Repair at his residence. Mike continued his business for 35 years, and took pride in the business he had built, the many customers he served and the friendships that he made through his work. Along with running his garage, Mike also spent many evenings and weekends running his bulldozer, clearing land and building many ponds around the Versailles area. Mike built his last pond at his home in 1999 for his grandkids to have a place to swim and fish.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Mike (Erin) Bradley of Versailles, Brian (Brittany) Bradley of Versailles and his daughter Mindy (Chris) Alcorn of Canaan. His 13 grandchildren, Bret, Austin, Ashton, Logan, Luke, Landon, Lexi, Hannah, Michael, McKenna, Mavery, Manning and Hunter, and his 5 great grandsons, Baylor, Brigham, Hudson, Noah and Lincoln. His brothers Elmer (Sherry) of Dillsboro, Omar (Patsy) of Holton, Earnie (Suzie) of Versailles. His sisters Deanna Nelson of Butlerville, Frances Powell of Versailles, Debbie (Bruce) Clowers of Canaan and his sister-in-law Carol Bradley of Batesville.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers, Delmar (Virginia); Wesley Jr; Arnold and Douglas; his sisters Sydney (Leory) Klusman; Nellie Annis and Linda Bradley. His Brother n laws Norman Nelson; Roy Powell and John Garvey.
Mike was also proceeded by his shop assistant and four-legged side kick of 13 years, his black lab Bob.
Visitation will be held Thursday April 30th from 5-7pm at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 1st at 10am at the Funeral home with Scott Elston officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Memory of Mike to the Southeastern Career Center Diesel Technology Program.
