Thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Willow Point. Your kind words meant so much and truly honored the care, compassion, and dedication shared within our community. We deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness and support.
Hey everyone, Gavin here.
Today I wanted to take a break from reporting the news and sharing community events to tell you about a place that made a profound difference in my own life.
For the last 13 months of my grandfather’s life, Willow Point Rehabilitation & Nursing Center became a second home for my family. No one ever wants to face the reality of placing someone they love in a nursing home. It’s one of the hardest decisions a family can make. But looking back, I truly can’t imagine a better place for my PopPop to have spent his final chapter.
From the day he arrived until the day he passed away, every single person we encountered treated him—and our family—with incredible dignity, kindness, and compassion.
And when I say everyone, I mean everyone.
The nurses. The CNAs. The receptionists. The cafeteria staff. Housekeeping. Maintenance. Administration. Every single person greeted us with a smile, offered a helping hand, and somehow made difficult days feel just a little bit lighter.
There were days I walked through those doors carrying grief, fear, exhaustion, or uncertainty. No matter what kind of day I was having, someone always took a moment to ask how I was doing or if I needed help. Those moments may have seemed small to them, but they meant everything to me.
The facility itself never felt cold or impersonal. During the warmer months, PopPop and I would sit out on the deck together, talking and making memories I’ll cherish forever. During the winter, the building still felt warm, inviting, and full of life. It never felt like just a nursing home—it felt like a place where people genuinely cared.
One moment, though, will stay with me forever.
When PopPop made the decision to stop treatment and simply be comfortable, I asked if I could bring my bass guitar in to play for him. Without hesitation, they welcomed it. They understood that music was part of our relationship and gave me the space to share one last gift with him.
That is a memory I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
You can’t teach the level of compassion I witnessed over those 13 months. It comes from the heart, and everyone at Willow Point has it.
At WEBO, we spend every day highlighting the people and businesses that make our communities stronger. Today, I simply wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for caring for my grandfather with such grace.
Thank you for caring for our family just as much.
And thank you for reminding me that even during life’s hardest moments, there are extraordinary people who choose kindness every single day.
If your family is ever faced with the difficult decision of finding long-term care for someone you love, I hope you’ll take the time to look into Willow Point. They gave my grandfather incredible care, and they gave my family comfort when we needed it most.
From the bottom of my heart… thank you.
