Your child is one person. Their care should feel that way.

As a speech-language pathologist, one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that speech, feeding, breathing, oral function, sleep and development don’t always fit neatly into separate boxes.

Sometimes what we’re seeing in speech therapy is only one piece of a much bigger picture.

That’s why collaborative care matters.

SLPs, occupational therapists, physical therapists, lactation professionals, ENTs, dentists, orthodontists and other healthcare providers each bring a different perspective. We don’t all need to do the same thing, but we do need to recognize when another piece of the puzzle needs attention.

I recently wrote about collaborative care and why looking at the whole child matters on the Salt & Light blog.

And if conversations about speech and language development, oral function, airway health and whole-person care are your thing, stick around. That’s what we talk about here.
