🌿 Meet Mallory- Insight’s Intake Coordinator!

If you’ve reached out to Insight about starting therapy, there’s a good chance you’ve already talked with Mallory!

Mallory serves as our Intake Coordinator, helping new clients navigate those first steps into services. She works to learn a little about what someone is looking for, answer questions about getting started, and help connect clients with the therapist, location, and services that may be the best fit for their needs.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming enough without also having to figure out who do I call, who should I see, and where do I even start? Mallory helps make that process a little easier.

Mallory is also a therapist and works with adolescents and adults, with areas of focus including body image and eating concerns, grief, depression, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, and women’s issues. She is trained in TF-CBT and DBT and is Body Image and Color Analysis Certified.

So, while you may occasionally find Mallory in the therapy room, these days she spends much of her time helping people find their way into the right therapy room.

She’s often one of the first friendly faces (or voices!) you’ll encounter at Insight, and we’re pretty lucky to have her helping people get started. 💚

Thinking about therapy but nervous about that first appointment? That’s pretty normal, especially if you’ve never been to therapy before.
Your first session usually isn’t about walking in, sitting down, and immediately telling a stranger every difficult thing that has ever happened to you.
It’s really about getting to know each other.
Your therapist may ask about:
• What brought you to therapy
• What has been feeling difficult lately
• Your mental health and medical history
• Important relationships, family, work, or school
• Things you’ve tried before and what has or hasn’t helped
• Your strengths and current supports
• What you’d like to be different as a result of therapy
You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for your therapist. Therapy is a relationship, and feeling comfortable with the person sitting across from you matters.
And you don’t need to arrive with perfectly articulated goals.
“I’m overwhelmed and I don’t really know where to start” is a perfectly reasonable place to start.
By the end of the first few sessions, you and your therapist can begin identifying goals and figuring out what approach makes the most sense for you.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. The first appointment is simply that—a first step. 🌿
Know someone who keeps saying they’ve thought about therapy but haven’t made the call yet? Save this post or share it with them. Sometimes knowing what to expect makes starting a little easier.

Back-to-school season isn't only an adjustment for kids.
New schedules, earlier mornings, homework, practices, packed lunches, transportation, and trying to remember approximately 47 things before leaving the house… parents and caregivers feel the shift too.
A few things that can make the transition easier:
• Give everyone a little extra time in the morning when possible
• Keep evenings predictable for the first few weeks
• Don't overschedule every open afternoon
• Expect some irritability and exhaustion while everyone adjusts
• Make room for connection that has nothing to do with school performance
And maybe most importantly—don't expect the new routine to feel routine immediately.
Parents: what's the hardest part of getting back into the school-year rhythm at your house?

Microcurrent Neurofeedback can be helpful for a wide variety of concerns🩵

The list in this post highlights what I see most often in clinic, but it certainly doesn’t stop there.

This week I’ve worked with clients experiencing panic disorder, agoraphobia, anger issues, addiction, autism, and chronic pain.

✨ The goal is to help the brain and nervous system move toward greater regulation, resilience, and balance.

If you’ve been wondering whether Microcurrent Neurofeedback might be appropriate for you or someone you love, send me a message. I’d be happy to answer your questions.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before a new week begins.

Today can simply be a day to exhale, reset, and make room for what restores you.

As you head into the weekend, remember this: rest is not something you have to earn.

Give yourself permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and care for your mind as intentionally as you care for everyone else.
