DUE TO THE SMOKE we are adjusting our process to ensure the safety of our volunteers working outdoors and indoors. This may result in slower line movement. Thank you for your patience! The wind is due to pick up and start clearing out some of the smoke this afternoon. 🤞😎

The parking lot opens today at 1:30 pm for grocery distribution lineup. Please do not arrive early. Our parking attendants will direct you to the correct line.

Distribution begins at 2:30 pm

2:30-4:15 pm for Portage, Vicksburg, Schoolcraft, Three Rivers

4:15 pm to 5:15 pm for the general public.

Each household is permitted to collect groceries 2 x a month on their chosen distribution days.

Service is limited to 2 recipients or families per vehicle from different households.

This is a drive-thru process; please arrive with an empty trunk and remain in your vehicle at all times.

MDHHS has not yet identified one specific food or supplier, but they're advising extra care with several foods that have been linked to previous Cyclospora parasite infection outbreaks.
🚫 Foods I'd Avoid for Now
❌️ Bagged salad mixes & kits
❌️ Pre-made restaurant salads
❌️ Shredded lettuce on sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and wraps
❌️ Fresh cilantro
❌️ Fresh basil
❌️ Green onions (scallions)
❌️ Fresh raspberries
❌️ Raw snow peas
❌️ Pico de gallo
❌️ Guacamole (because it may contain cilantro and green onions)
❌️ Garnishes made with fresh herbs.

🍽️ Restaurant Orders I'd Skip
❌️ Taco salads
❌️ Side salads
❌️ Caesar salads
❌️ Garden salads
❌️ Burritos or tacos loaded with lettuce and pico
❌️ Sandwiches with shredded lettuce (ask for no lettuce)
Fresh herb garnishes

Fruits & Veggies safer to eat:
✅️ Whole fruits that you peel yourself (bananas, oranges, avocados)
✅️ Apples, peaches, pears, etc., after washing and peeling
✅️ Frozen or cooked vegetables

🏡 At Home
If you do buy produce:
Buy whole heads of lettuce instead of bagged salads.
Wash everything thoroughly under running water.
When possible, cook vegetables, since heating to at least 158°F (70°C) kills the parasite.

Vicksburg Family Home Care will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the 4th of July holiday weekend. We will reopen Monday, 7/6/26, for regular business hours.

Summer Heat Safety Tip

As temperatures climb, seniors and vulnerable individuals are at a higher risk for heat-related illnesses. Drinking plenty of water, staying in cool or air-conditioned spaces, wearing light clothing, and limiting time outdoors during peak heat can help prevent overheating.

Be sure to check in on loved ones, neighbors, and friends, especially those who live alone.

Recognizing the signs of heat exhaustion early can make all the difference.

Stay safe, stay cool, and take care of one another this summer!

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A REGISTRATION CARD, PLEASE FILL IT OUT BEFORE YOU ENTER THE PARKING LOT!

The parking lot will open at 9 am for grocery distribution lineup. Please refrain from arriving early. Please watch for our parking attendants for lineup direction.

Distribution will commence at 10 am.

10 am to 12 pm: Portage, Vicksburg, Schoolcraft, Three Rivers residents

11:45 to 12:45 pm: Surrounding communities

If a LOT FULL sign is displayed by a parking attendant as you approach the parking lot, please proceed and return later. We kindly request that you avoid using private drives in the immediate area when turning around.

Once you enter the lot, our parking attendants will direct you to the correct line.

Please note that only one family per household address is eligible; multiple families residing in the same household must register under a single name.

Each household is permitted to collect groceries twice a month on their chosen distribution days.

Service is limited to two recipients or families per vehicle from different households.

This is a drive-thru process; please arrive with an empty trunk and remain in your vehicle at all times.
