Fall is when the bull reds run along the Texas coast, and anyone who fishes the jetties or the bay in October knows the conditions: steady wind, salt spray, and nowhere to rinse a contact lens that just folded in half.

EVO ICL is a small lens placed inside the eye to correct nearsightedness. There's no morning routine, no case in the tackle box, and no lens to peel out after a long day on the water. If your glasses prescription keeps changing year after year, and new lenses never quite make things crisp, the problem may not be your glasses.

Keratoconus is a condition where the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, thins and bulges outward into a cone shape. It usually shows up in young adults and can pass for worsening astigmatism for years before anyone names it. Glasses struggle to correct an irregular cornea, which is why the prescription keeps chasing it.

CTAK, short for Corneal Tissue Addition Keratoplasty, adds precisely shaped donor corneal tissue to reshape the cornea and improve how it focuses light. Victoria Eye Center is the first and only provider of CTAK in Victoria, Texas.

October is Halloween Safety Month, and one of the easiest ways to hurt your eyes this season is sold on the same rack as the fake blood.

Colored, cat-eye, and zombie contact lenses from costume shops, gas stations, and online marketplaces are still medical devices. In the United States, they require a prescription, even when they don't correct your vision. A lens that is not fitted to your eye, or not FDA approved, can scratch the cornea and open the door to infections that threaten your sight.

Most people who want out of glasses start by asking whether they are a LASIK candidate, and stop there if the answer is no. There are three routes, and the right one depends on your eyes and your age.

LASIK reshapes the cornea and suits a lot of patients in their twenties and thirties. EVO ICL implants a small lens inside the eye without removing corneal tissue, which opens the door for high prescriptions and thin corneas that LASIK cannot treat. Refractive Lens Exchange replaces the eye's natural lens, and for patients in their forties and fifties whose reading vision is the real complaint, it addresses what LASIK cannot.

Anyone who has driven US 59 after dark lately has an opinion about how bright oncoming headlights have gotten. Sometimes it really is the trucks. Often it is a cataract.

A cataract is the eye's natural lens clouding over with age, and a clouded lens scatters light instead of focusing it. That turns every headlight into a starburst and makes night driving feel genuinely unsafe long before daytime vision seems like a problem. Plenty of patients quietly stop driving after dark and never mention it at an appointment.

Cataract surgery replaces that lens, and there is a real choice in what replaces it. The Light Adjustable Lens can be fine-tuned with light treatments after surgery, so the final result is dialed in to what you want to see.
