Nurse practitioner just landed the fastest job growth rate of any career on the entire BLS list, over 40% projected growth through 2036.

Here are the 10 best jobs of 2026 based on median salary and projected job growth.

Physician tops the salary chart at $255,000, with 7% projected growth.

Dentist follows at $160,370, also growing 7%.

Software developer comes in at $136,510, with 17% growth.

Information security analyst pays $130,840, and it's growing 32%, one of the fastest on this entire list.

Financial manager sits at $169,510, with 17% growth.

Nurse practitioner pays $131,050, and leads every other job here with 42% projected growth.

Speech-language pathologist comes in lower on salary at $95,410, but still grows a strong 21%.

Airline pilot pays $226,600, with a more modest 5% growth rate.

Lawyer sits at $135,740, growing 8%.

Pharmacist rounds out the list at $132,750, with 6% growth.

Here's the pattern worth noticing.

The highest paying jobs on this list aren't always the fastest growing ones.

Physicians and pilots pay the most, but they're growing the slowest.

Nurse practitioners and information security analysts pay well below the top of the list, but they're growing multiple times faster.

If you're picking a career path, or helping your kid pick one, growth rate deserves just as much attention as the starting salary.
