Exchanging ideas with recognized surgeons around the country and world is one of the most rewarding parts of my profession and sharing that experience with my twin sister made it even more fun and meaningful.

I recently returned from my second Ponytail Academy course alongside Dr. Amy Kulak | Kulak Eye & Cosmetic Surgery, oculoplastic surgeon in Florida. We had the privilege of learning directly from Dr. Kao and refining the advanced endoscopic techniques behind his Ponytail Lift.

After 15 years of performing endoscopic surgery, it was exciting to build on that experience with techniques that expand the possibilities for facial rejuvenation. Concealing incisions within the hairline offers an appealing approach for patients seeking natural results with minimal visible scarring.

Dr. Kao has developed a thoughtful, systematic approach to a complex procedure, and I’m grateful for his continued mentorship and generosity in sharing his expertise.

Remember her 4-week result? Here she is at 7 weeks.

Just three more weeks of healing—and you can already see continued settling and refinement of the jawline and neck.

This is why I remind my facelift patients that early results are just that…early. Swelling continues to resolve, tissues soften, and the result continues to evolve over the months ahead.

And at 7 weeks, we’re still not at the final result.

What does a facelift look like at just 4 weeks?

Recovery is one of the biggest questions patients have when considering facelift surgery
When will I look like myself again?
When will I feel comfortable being out and about?

This lovely 70 year-old patient is shown only 4 weeks after her deep plane facelift and deep neck lift.

Already, we can see meaningful improvement in the definition of her jawline and neck while maintaining a natural appearance.

But this is important: 4 weeks is still an early result.

There is still residual swelling and firmness, and over the coming weeks and months, her tissues will continue to settle, soften, and refine. Her result today is not her final result.

And rather than just telling you that facelift results continue to evolve, I’m going to show you.

I’ll be sharing her next follow-up soon so you can see what happens with just a few more weeks of healing and how her result continues to progress.

Every patient has a different vision of what they want to see in the mirror. My job isn’t to convince someone they need more surgery, it’s to understand their goals and create the right surgical plan to achieve them.

This patient wasn’t looking for a facelift. Her priorities were clear: a smoother neckline, better jawline definition, and refreshed lower eyelids while maintaining a completely natural appearance.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that a neck lift only involves tightening through a small incision beneath the chin. While that incision is important to contour the neck structure, creating a refined jawline and elegant neck often requires lifting of the neck laterally, with hidden incisions around ears into the hairline. The key for this case, is using only the amount of lift needed to accomplish the patient’s goals, not more.

To accomplish those goals, a personalized combination of:
⭐️Deep Neck lift to restore a more youthful neck contour and jawline
⭐️Transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty performed without any external incision beneath the eyelid to remove the eye bags
⭐️CO2 laser to tighten the skin around the eyes
⭐️Fat transfer to restore subtle volume and soften the transition beneath the eyes
