We're excited to share something we've been working toward for a long time. 💙

For more than 20 years, we've had the privilege of helping children become confident readers through the Sounds2Print™ program we've developed and refined in our clinics.

Now, we're excited to begin sharing that same framework with educators, speech-language pathologists, interventionists, tutors, and literacy professionals through our new Sounds2Print™ Essentials training.

Our hope is simple: that more professionals will leave feeling confident, more children will receive effective reading instruction, and learning to read won't have to be such a frustrating experience for so many students.

Every child is an expert on something. 💛

Whether it’s dinosaurs, Pokémon, Bluey, baseball, or Taylor Swift, invite your child to be the “teacher” this week and share what they know with the family.

While they’re excitedly explaining their favorite topic, they’re also building expressive language, organizing their thoughts, sequencing information, answering questions, and growing confidence as a communicator.

The best part? They’ll just think they’re sharing something they love.

Executive functioning isn't just about being organized.

These skills affect nearly every part of the school day, and they're often much harder for children with ADHD.

Jimmy wasn’t trying to ignore his coach. 💙

He remembered part of the directions.

For some children, following several spoken instructions at once is much harder than it looks. As they complete one step, the next instruction can quietly disappear.

It doesn’t always mean they weren’t listening.

Sometimes they’re working really hard to remember what came next.

If your child often loses track of multi-step directions, forgets part of what was asked, or seems to fall behind even when they’re trying, working memory may be part of the puzzle.

Happy Monday! 🌟

Research shows that before the intermediate grads. A child’s listening comprehension actually outpaces their reading comprehension. If a child cannot understand a story read aloud to them, they will not be able to comprehend it when reading it themselves.

Pals! 💛

One of our favorite parts of summer is watching friendships grow.

Our summer groups have been hard at work, but they’ve also been laughing, encouraging one another, and making fast friends along the way. We couldn’t ask for a better start to the season!

From interactive Smart Board activities to writing on the windows with dry erase markers (and plenty of spelling rule games not pictured!), we love giving students lots of different ways to engage with learning while keeping it fun.

Summer programs are one of the highlights of our year, and we do everything we can to make them one of the highlights of theirs too. ☀️

Three hours later... 😅

Jimmy forgot about lunch.

He forgot what time it was.

But he definitely didn’t forget to build a train that stops at the baseball stadium on game days. 🚆⚾

Sometimes the very child who struggles to stay focused during homework can spend hours completely immersed in something they’re passionate about.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t focus.

It may mean their brain engages differently depending on the task.

When we notice what captures a child’s attention, we often learn just as much about their strengths as we do their challenges.
