Introducing: Summer Learning in Disguise ☀️

This summer, we’re sharing simple activities you can do with your child that are fun, engaging, and packed with hidden learning opportunities.

Today’s activity: The Dinner Debate 🍕🌮🍔

The next time your family can’t decide where to eat, let everyone nominate a restaurant.

Then comes the fun part:

Everyone has to convince the family why their choice is the best one.

Kids can make their case with:

* a speech
* a drawing
* a written argument
* or a combination of all three

Without even realizing it, they’re practicing:
✨ organizing their thoughts
✨ persuasive language
✨ critical thinking
✨ verbal expression
✨ self-advocacy

And let’s be honest… the debate is often more entertaining than dinner.

What restaurant would win in your house?

Follow along this summer for more learning opportunities hidden in everyday summer fun. ☀️

I think we can all relate to Jimmy sometimes. 💙

We’ve all had moments where a task felt bigger than it should.

But if challenges with organization, planning, getting started, or managing multi-step tasks are impacting your child’s success at school or at home, executive functioning skills may be part of the puzzle.

☀️ Our summer Executive Functioning program helps students strengthen organization, planning, prioritization, and independence in a supportive environment.

A lot of people hear “speech therapy” and think it’s only about pronunciation.

But speech-language pathologists support so much more than speech. 💙

SLPs can help children with:
✨ understanding language
✨ expressing thoughts and ideas
✨ reading and literacy skills
✨ social communication
✨ executive functioning
✨ word retrieval
✨ storytelling and writing
✨ following directions
✨ fluency and stuttering
✨ speech sound production
✨ comprehension
✨ self-advocacy and confidence

Communication impacts nearly every part of a child’s day: learning, friendships, academics, emotional regulation, and feeling understood.

During National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we celebrate the incredible breadth of support SLPs provide to help children connect, communicate, and thrive. ✨

“It’s about fit, not failure”

What if your child’s school experience could be built entirely around them?

In this episode, we sit down with Joe Casamassima from Fusion Academy to talk about one-to-one schooling and how it’s changing the way students learn, connect, and grow.

We discuss:
✨ What a one-to-one school day actually looks like
✨ Which students benefit most from this model
✨ How socialization still plays a big role
✨ Why struggling in school may be about fit, not ability

If your child isn’t thriving in a traditional classroom, this conversation offers a new perspective.

Language is everywhere. 💙

It’s in:
📖 learning to read
🧭 understanding directions
🗣️ telling stories
🤝 making friends
❓ answering questions
💡 solving word problems
💖 expressing emotions
💪 advocating for yourself
✅ and feeling understood

That’s why speech-language therapy is about so much more than speech.

During National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we’re celebrating the role communication plays in helping children connect, learn, grow, and build confidence every single day.

And we’re incredibly grateful for the SLPs, educators, therapists, teachers, and families who support those skills along the way. ✨

Some students with dyslexia become very good at compensating in the early years.

But when reading becomes the way students access all learning, those underlying reading challenges often become much harder to hide.

That’s why many parents first notice significant struggles around third grade.

The good news is these are skills that can improve with the right support.

What if helping your child thrive doesn’t always mean doing more?

More structure.
More tutoring.
More activities.
More pressure.

Sometimes one of the most valuable things we can give children is actually something much simpler:

Play.

Real, unstructured play supports:
✨ emotional regulation
✨ resilience
✨ creativity
✨ problem-solving
✨ social development
✨ and confidence

That’s the focus of our upcoming Ask the Experts conversation:

Play, Not Pressure: Your Post-Pandemic Guide to Stronger, Healthier Kids

Join us as we explore why play and connection still matter so much for healthy child development.
