In addition to treatment, it has engaged in clinical program development in the areas of phonemic awareness and higher level reading programs for middle and high school students. Reading isn’t something our brains are born knowing how to do. 🧠

For individuals with dyslexia, building the connections between sounds, language, and print can take more explicit instruction and practice. That can help explain why a word they read yesterday might feel difficult again today.

Understanding what’s happening in the dyslexic brain helps us understand why the right instruction matters. ❤️

Because in Sounds2Print™, we don’t start with spelling rules. We start with speech sounds.

Helping students understand what they hear, see, and feel when they produce sounds gives them a stronger foundation for connecting those sounds to print. 👄

At our October Ask the Experts, you’ll take part in an interactive dyslexia simulation designed to offer a glimpse into some of the challenges students with dyslexia may navigate.

Then we’ll take a closer look at spelling: what your child’s spelling can tell you, why spelling may remain difficult even as reading improves, and what those patterns can help us understand.

Dyslexia is a word most people have heard. But that doesn’t mean it’s always well understood. ❤️

It’s not seeing letters backward. It’s not a vision problem. And it’s certainly not a reflection of intelligence or effort.

Understanding what dyslexia is and isn’t helps us recognize it, talk about it more accurately, and make sure students get the kind of instruction and support they need.

So this Dyslexia Awareness Month, we’re starting with the basics. ❤️

What does a Sounds2Print™ Essentials training actually look like?

It looks like learning by doing.

Participants step into the learner’s seat, use hands-on materials, practice instructional techniques, and teach them back. Our goal is for every clinician to leave not only understanding structured literacy, but feeling empowered to bring it to their own clients.

If dyslexia is a new word in your house, your child may be wondering what it means for them. ❤️ They may be asking: What does it mean? Why has reading felt harder for me? Does this change anything about who I am?

Sometimes it helps to hear the answers from someone other than Mom or Dad. So if your child needs to hear this today, show them this video. ❤️

We’re going RED for Dyslexia Awareness Month! ❤️

Dyslexia is a big part of what we do at RLLC, so you know we have a lot planned for October.

All month long, we’ll be talking about dyslexia from every angle: what it is, what it can look like, how it affects reading and spelling, how speech and language fit into the picture, and most importantly, the kids and individuals behind it all.

We’re excited to spend the month learning, celebrating, and raising awareness alongside our families, fellow professionals, and community. ❤️

The paper was safe. Jimmy just needed to remember where “safe” was. 😂

And somehow, a missing school paper turned into a whole new organizational system: Jimmy’s Solar System. 🪐🎒

Sometimes kids need a little help getting organized, but that doesn’t mean we have to do all the organizing for them. Giving them a simple structure and letting them help build the system can make it much more meaningful and usable.

And with that, we’re officially caught up with Jimmy! 💙
