The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery recently dedicated an ENTIRE issue on GLPs - we know that the clinical experience is growing wildly, faster than evidence and so this was an exciting read for us as it introduced new theories and evidence. is what we learned:

GLPs use can produce a net loss of collagen and elastin synthesis and raise MMPs, because we do see 4x less adipose derived stem cells in GLP users as compared to non GLP users - independent of the fact that glp use also can cause rapid fat reduction - which can also result in crepeyness fine lines textural changes and skin that doesn’t bounce back - which is why proper skincare is paramount - studies show certain skincare products help the skin bounce back and recover more than others

GLP use can improve wound healing and decrease post op inflammatory complications

GLP use causes facial fat loss noted at temples and deep cheeks first and then under eyes resulting in a tired look

A basic or novice injector has one answer for every concern.
The problem is, it’s not that simple.

A great provider knows the full toolkit and chooses what is actually right for you, and that can include referring you out to other injectors or surgeons when indicated.

If you are jumping from place to place chasing a deal on Tox, essentially choosing this one treatment option off a menu - you are missing a real consultation, a treatment plan, a review of other options, and a provider who knows your face well enough to tell you when you do not need something.
