In Chinese medicine, autumn is associated with the lungs and large intestine.

Two very important organs responsible for letting go.

Since the air gets cool and dry, it’s vital to gently moisten the lungs and large intestine.

Incorporating more cooked/steamed foods & avoiding too many raw foods & salads this time of year is beneficial.

Some foods for the fall that help nourish the lungs & digestion are pumpkin, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, onions, ginger, garlic, brussel sprouts, beets, potatoes, apples, pears, and artichokes.
Emotionally, just as the leaves are falling, it is also important for us to let go of any excess emotion we may have, especially any sadness or anger.

Deep breathing, meditation, prayer, walking, & acupuncture are some of my favorites.

With each seasonal change during the course of year, it’s important that we as humans adapt just as well.

Keeping our nervous system regulated is crucial in providing good overall health.

The whole purpose of acupuncture is to provide balance and regulate the nervous system so that we can heal and feel better. If we are in a constant state of stress (fight or flight), we will not heal properly. Acupuncture gets things (blood, qi, neurotransmitters) flowing in the right direction so that we aren’t “stuck.” When there is an imbalance, dysfunction can manifest in many different ways both physical and emotional.
