From a perfectly melted slice on a backyard burger to a beautifully arranged charcuterie board shared among lifelong friends, cheese has a wonderful way of bringing people together. National Cheese Day is the ultimate excuse to pause the daily routine and indulge in one of the most beloved, versatile, and comforting culinary traditions in the world.

Whether your favorite is a sharp cheddar, a rich brie, or a classic mozzarella, the foods we share often form the backdrop for our warmest family gatherings and happiest social moments. At Rone Funeral Service, we love celebrating the simple, everyday pleasures that bring a smile to your face and a sense of cozy comfort to your home.

Taking a little time today to treat yourself to a favorite snack or support a local market is a fantastic way to brighten up the middle of the week. May your afternoon be filled with a delicious break, savory flavors, and a relaxing evening with the people you cherish most.

“Cheese making is an ancient, some might even say sacred, craft. So ancient in fact it predates recorded history. It is speculated that the magic of cheese making began somewhere around 8000BCE shortly after the domestication of animals. Archeological digs have found evidence of cheese around the world including strainers coated in milk-fat molecules in Kuyavia, Poland dated around 5500BCE, murals in Egypt dated at 2000BCE, and an artifact of preserved cheese in Xinjiang, China believed to be more than 3,000 years old! European Imperialism took their styles of cheese through Asia, sub saharan Africa, and eventually to the Americas.
The most popular cheese of all is (obviously) mozzarella. This delicious and pizza topping cheese was first created near Naples from the rich milk of water buffalos. At the time, it rarely left its home near Naples, as it was made from pasteurized milk, and a lack of refrigeration meant it had a very short shelf life. As both cheese technology and refrigeration systems advanced, this delicious cheese left the southern region of Italy and found itself traveling around the world.
There are two types of mozzarella produced within the United States — low moisture and high moisture. Low moisture mozzarella has a moisture content less than 50% while high moisture has a content of over 52%. Low moisture is made specifically for transportation and mass production as the lack of moisture gives it a longer shelf life.
Today, cheese dishes can be found on every continent served savory, sweet, melted, deep fried, and even chilled in ice cream. This household staple can still satisfy any craving after thousands of years.”

Our feline companions have a wonderful way of turning a house into a warm, comforting home with their quiet presence, soothing purrs, and independent personalities. National Hug Your Cat Day is a perfect opportunity for pet parents to show some extra affection and appreciation to the special cats who bring so much joy, entertainment, and gentle comfort to our daily lives.

A quiet moment spent petting a beloved animal is a fantastic way to slow down, reduce stress, and appreciate the simple bonds of companionship that keep us grounded. Rone Funeral Service recognizes how deeply our pets are woven into the fabric of our families, offering unconditional love and a reassuring presence through all of life's ups and downs.

Whether your favorite feline prefers a big squeeze, a gentle scratch behind the ears, or just sharing a quiet space on the couch, spending quality time with your pet is a beautiful way to spend the afternoon. May your day be filled with cozy moments, warm companionship, and plenty of appreciation for our furry family members.

“The origins of National Hug Your Cat Day are somewhat obscured by the pre-internet history of casual food and lifestyle holidays, but the celebration firmly found its footing with the rise of digital culture in the early 2000s. Long before cats became the undisputed monarchs of viral internet videos and memes, feline advocacy groups and pet lovers sought a dedicated moment to appreciate the unique companionship that cats provide. The day was established to encourage pet owners to pause their busy routines and show explicit affection to their feline friends, who are historically perceived as more independent or aloof than dogs.
Observing this holiday, which takes place annually on June 4th, often involves a gentle reminder about feline boundaries, as feline experts frequently use the occasion to educate the public on reading a cat's body language to ensure the affection is mutual. Over the years, the day has evolved from a lighthearted celebration among individual pet owners into a powerful platform for animal welfare organizations. Rescue shelters across the country utilize the widespread social media attention on June 4th to promote adoption events, raise funds for stray populations, and highlight the emotional benefits of pet ownership.
Today, Hug Your Cat Day is celebrated globally with millions of structural pictures, videos, and heartfelt stories shared online, serving as a testament to how deeply interwoven these animals have become in human families and communities.”

Even in our darkest hours or most challenging seasons, the quiet belief that a brighter tomorrow is possible remains one of the most powerful forces we possess. Audacity to Hope Day is a beautiful reminder that choosing to maintain optimism, resilience, and faith isn’t just a comforting thought—it is a courageous act of strength that can carry us through any trial.

Hope gives us the endurance to keep moving forward, the compassion to lift up those around us, and the vision to see light even when the path ahead seems uncertain. At Rone Funeral Service, we are privileged to witness every day the incredible resilience of the human spirit and the profound ways that hope can heal hearts and unite families.

Taking a quiet moment today to reflect on your own dreams, offer an encouraging word to a neighbor, or simply hold onto a positive outlook is a wonderful way to honor this day. May your week be filled with renewed strength, an enduring sense of peace, and the unwavering courage to keep hoping for a beautiful future.

“Hope is an optimistic state of mind that expects a positive outcome no matter how dire the circumstances. It is a singular force that motivates us to do better and strive to be our best selves. This positive emotion also anticipates a happier future that is full of opportunities and brings about an easier way of life. The word features frequently in many languages across the world to indicate optimism and positive actions. Common phrases like “hoping against hope”, “hope springs eternal”, and “hope for the best” are some of the most common phrases in the English language featuring the word ‘hope’.
The day is also dedicated to President Barack Obama who has written the book, “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.” Published in 2006 when Obama was a senator, the book talks about Obama and his own audacity to hope that led him to become America’s first Black president! His inspiration for the phrase “the audacity of hope” came from a sermon by pastor Jeremiah Wright, in which he said, “…to take the one string you have left and to have the audacity to hope.” Even though the book largely focuses on Obama’s political career, we learn about his thoughts on understanding an opponent’s point of view and building mutual respect. Ultimately, it is a book about defying the odds to bring about a significant change in the world around us. And this is exactly what this day is about — to never give up, even in the face of the direst circumstances.”

Lacing up your sneakers for Global Running Day is about so much more than just hitting a specific pace or distance. It is a wonderful celebration of movement, clear minds, and the vibrant health that connects us all as a community. Whether you are hitting the local trails, enjoying a morning jog down city streets, or taking a peaceful walk through the neighborhood, every single step counts.

At Rone Funeral Service, we love seeing our neighbors active, healthy, and supportive of one another. Movement is an incredible way to clear the mind and care for both physical and emotional well-being.

Happy running to everyone out there moving today, and may your miles be filled with fresh air and great energy.

“Global Running Day started in the United States in 2009, although at the time it was referred to as National Running Day. The inaugural Global Running Day was held on June 1, 2016. On that day over 2.5 million runners from 177 different countries took part, running an estimated 9.2 million miles between them. We get out of breath just thinking about all that running.
The day aims to get everyone moving and be more active and champions not just the physical health benefits of running but also the mental health benefits it can have too, such as reduced anxiety.
The Million Kid run has also become a huge part of Global Running Day. This is the youth division of Global Running Day and aims to have over a million kids from across the world take part. By making fitness fun they are hoping to inspire our future generations to remain healthy and fit.
The 2020 Global Running Day was made more challenging due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. With some of the traditional events paused due to social distancing recommendations, many were taking part with a virtual team or participating in the “Tag 1 Challenge” on social media.
If you’re looking for that extra bit of motivation then look no further, Global Running Day is here to stay and there’s a huge community to give you that extra bit of fuel in your feet.”

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, traditionally known as Corpus Christi, is a beautiful time of deep reflection and gratitude. Today, we honor the sacred presence of Christ and the profound unity it brings to our community, reminding us of the enduring strength found in faith and togetherness.

As we observe this holy day, Rone Funeral Service wishes all of our local Catholic families a blessed and peaceful feast. May your hearts be filled with comfort, and may you experience a renewed sense of hope and spiritual renewal alongside your loved ones.

“The history of the Feast of Corpus Christi begins not with a decree from Rome, but with the persistent visions of a 13th-century Belgian nun, St. Juliana of Liège. For years, she experienced a recurring vision of a full moon with a single dark spot, which she interpreted as a sign that the Church’s liturgical calendar was incomplete without a day specifically dedicated to the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. While Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, its proximity to the somber events of Good Friday prevented the jubilant celebration Juliana felt the sacrament deserved.
The movement gained significant momentum following the Miracle of Bolsena in 1263. A priest named Peter of Prague, who had been struggling with doubts regarding the doctrine of transubstantiation, witnessed a host begin to bleed onto the altar cloth during Mass. The stained cloth, known as a corporal, was brought to Pope Urban IV in Orvieto. Deeply moved by this event and already familiar with Juliana’s petitions, the Pope issued the papal bull Transiturus de hoc mundo in 1264, establishing Corpus Christi as a universal feast for the Latin Church.
To provide the feast with a worthy liturgy, the Pope turned to the preeminent theologian of the age, St. Thomas Aquinas. Aquinas composed a series of hymns that remain central to Catholic tradition today, including the Pange Lingua and Panis Angelicus. These texts shifted the focus from the sorrow of the Passion to the "bread of angels" and the spiritual nourishment of the faithful.
By the 14th century, the celebration evolved from a strictly liturgical event into a massive public spectacle. The central feature became the procession, where the consecrated host is placed in a monstrance and carried through the streets under a ceremonial canopy. In many European cities, these processions became the highlight of the social year. In England and Spain, they gave rise to "mystery plays"—theatrical performances on wagons that told the story of the Bible from Creation to the Day of Judgment, intended to educate the public through drama and art.
In the modern era, the feast continues to be observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday, though it is frequently moved to the following Sunday in various regions to accommodate modern work schedules. While the medieval mystery plays have largely faded, the tradition of the public procession remains. In many cultures, the path of the procession is still decorated with intricate "flower carpets" and temporary altars, maintaining the 700-year-old tradition of bringing the Eucharist out of the church and into the heart of the community.”

Today, we join our Orthodox Christian community in celebrating the Feast of the Ascension. This sacred day marks the conclusion of Christ's earthly ministry and His ascent into heaven, offering a profound message of hope, eternal life, and divine promise. It is a comforting reminder that we are never truly walked alone, and that love transcends the physical world.

At Rone Funeral Service, we hold a deep respect for the beautiful traditions and sacred milestones that bring peace to the families we serve. On this holy day, we wish you and your loved ones a blessed Ascension Day filled with quiet reflection, spiritual renewal, and lasting comfort.

“The Orthodox Church borrows its customs and traditions from Eastern Roman Christianity. It shares many similarities with other Christian Churches. Where it differs is in certain aspects of theology, as well as worship and way of life. They believe that the Holy Spirit is present in all members of the Church, acting as a guide through priests, bishops, and the whole body of the Church. The papal claim to supreme authority and the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is what led to the “Great Schism” between the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church.
The division between the Eastern (Orthodox) and Western (Roman Catholic) churches was gradual, happening as eastern and western Rome slowly fragmented. The sacking of Constantinople in 1204, during the Fourth Crusade of the Western Church, accelerated the Orthodox and Roman Catholic factions breaking away from each other. The Crusaders sacked the city, leading to the Muslim Ottomans taking the capital over a century later in 1453.
Orthodox Ascension Day is celebrated as one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church. It is mentioned in the Gospels of ‘Mark’ (16:19) and ‘Luke’ (24:50–53). It’s also referenced in the Acts of the Apostles 1:3–11. On this day, 40 days after resurrecting from the dead, Christ made His final appearance on Earth. He appeared before His apostles, commanding them not to leave Jerusalem. Jesus instructed the disciples to baptize all nations in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Christ then ascended to Heaven.”

The timeless truth that love has the incredible power to heal, unite, and carry us through life's deepest trials is something we can all hold close to our hearts. Love Conquers All Day is a beautiful reminder that no matter how difficult the road ahead may seem, the enduring bonds of affection, kindness, and devotion we share with one another will always have the final say.

In every corner of our lives, it is love that gives us the strength to face tomorrow and the comfort to find peace in the present. At Rone Funeral Service, we witness every day how the profound love families share remains an unbreakable, permanent anchor, outlasting even our most challenging moments and echoing beautifully through generations.

Taking a little extra time today to express your affection to a family member, mend a bridge, or offer a compassionate hand to a neighbor is a wonderful way to honor this day. May your week be filled with the reassuring warmth of deep connections and the knowledge that love truly is the greatest force we have.

“Love is an emotion that is probably as old as humans themselves. It is described as a sublime feeling that positively affects our mental and emotional well-being. The Greek philosophers identified six different forms of love: familial love, friendly love, romantic love, self-love, guest love, and divine love. Today, love also exists as unrequited love, empty love, companionate love, consummate love, infatuated love, self-love, and courtly love. Every culture has its own unique definitions of love and some also celebrate love as a part of religion and spirituality. It is also a common subject of art, literature, poetry, movies, and music.
The famous expression, ‘love conquers all,’ is credited to the Roman poet Virgil. These lines are found in Virgil’s “Eclogues” and were originally written in Latin. When translated to English, “Amor vincit omnia, et nos cedamus amori” means “Love conquers all things, so we too shall yield to love.” The expression suggests that there is no force in the world that cannot be overcome by love.
The phrase also finds a mention in religious scriptures like the Bible. It preaches that God loves everyone and those who are kind will be rewarded with love and joy. The Bible says that vices like hatred, manipulation, and deception are not fought with weapons, but love. Although the phrase “love conquers all” does not exist in the Bible, many verses preach a similar sentiment.”

From a quiet breakfast at the kitchen table to the secret ingredient behind our favorite family recipes, the humble egg is an absolute powerhouse in the culinary world. National Egg Day is a fun opportunity to appreciate this incredibly versatile ingredient that brings comfort, nutrition, and classic flavor to so many of our morning routines and shared family meals.

Rone Funeral Service loves celebrating the simple traditions and comforting home-cooked traditions that bring families together around the dinner table. Taking a moment to slow down and enjoy a favorite breakfast or a freshly baked treat is a wonderful way to find a little extra comfort and warmth in the middle of a busy week.

Whether you prefer them scrambled, sunny-side up, poached, or baked into a favorite dessert, we hope your day is filled with a delicious meal and plenty of warm moments with the people you care about most.

“While humans have been consuming eggs for thousands of years, formal days dedicated to celebrating this nutritional powerhouse are a much more modern invention. The American egg industry began seeing major structural and regulatory shifts in the early 20th century, notably starting with the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906, which helped standardize food quality and safety across the United States. As production scaled, the agricultural sector sought creative ways to promote the economic and nutritional value of eggs to the general public.
It is common to confuse National Egg Day with its global counterpart. World Egg Day was officially established in 1996 during a conference in Vienna by the International Egg Commission to celebrate the nutrient density and health benefits of eggs on a global scale. National Egg Day, observed annually on June 3rd, developed separately as a localized, food-focused holiday in the United States. It was championed by domestic poultry farmers, agricultural organizations, and food enthusiasts to kick off the summer season by highlighting the versatility of eggs in everyday cooking.
Today, National Egg Day is primarily celebrated through culinary campaigns, community breakfasts, and social media outreach. In communities across the country, local businesses participate in the festivities by sharing unique recipes, hosting brunch events, and promoting the agricultural roots of breakfast staples. Ultimately, National Egg Day remains a lighthearted tribute to the hardworking poultry farmers who sustain a vital part of the food supply.”

Hopping on a bicycle is one of the most liberating ways to explore the outdoors, clear your mind, and enjoy a fresh perspective on the neighborhoods around us. World Bicycle Day is a wonderful occasion to celebrate this simple, sustainable, and timeless mode of transportation that has been bringing health, freedom, and joy to people of all ages for generations.
Pedaling along our local paths and streets is not only fantastic for our physical and mental well-being, but it also gives us a chance to slow down and truly appreciate the natural beauty of our surroundings. At Rone Funeral Service, we love supporting activities that encourage wellness, family bonding, and a healthy lifestyle for everyone in our community.
Whether you are dusting off your handlebars for a casual evening cruise with the family, commuting to work, or hitting a favorite trail, a bike ride is a perfect way to clear your head and enjoy the fresh air. May your day be filled with smooth paths, beautiful weather, and a safe, enjoyable ride.
“Getting your first bicycle and learning how to ride it is a rite of passage for almost all of us. Despite the marks and scabs from falling from our bicycles while learning, it is a memory we always cherish. Bicycling is quite a useful activity — in the hustle and bustle of today’s world, bicycling allows us to exercise our muscles, cut back on fuel consumption as it is quite a popular alternative to driving a car, and feel the wind in our hair. Really, there is nothing quite like the exhilaration of riding a bicycle. World Bicycle Day acknowledges this and the durability and longevity of the bicycle. Providing a simple and sustainable means of transportation, bicycling is rejuvenating for our physical- and mental health, and good for the economy, and the environment.
The United Nations established World Bicycle Day for many reasons. As basic as it is, the impact of the bicycle on society is quite transformative — even the poorest people get access to basic transport with the bicycle.
It all started when U.S.-based Professor Leszek Sibilski initiated a grassroots campaign with his sociology class to promote a U.N. resolution that would designate a day for the advocacy and celebration of the humble bicycle all over the world. In 2015, Sibilski dedicated himself to an academic project, exploring bicycles and their role in development. His project catapulted into a massive movement backed by ‘Sustainable Mobility for All,’ and eventually resulted in a dedicated international day set by the United Nations for the promotion of bicycling. On April 12, 2018, the resolution declaring June 3 as World Bicycle Day was unanimously adopted by all 193 member states of the UN General Assembly. The resolution was greatly supported by Turkmenistan and co-sponsored by around 56 countries.
A logo was also designed by Isaac Feld, with an accompanying animation created by Professor John E. Swanson, showing bicyclists riding on various types of bicycles around the world. The message here is that a simple contraption serves all of humanity and bridges the gap between people from different walks of life. The two designers also created the current blue and white logo for the cause.”
