Karry Bernard Daggs Sr.
Karry Bernard Daggs Sr. was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He later moved to Oklahoma through Job Corps, where he discovered one of his lifelong passions and earned his certification in Culinary Arts.
Through mutual friends, Karry met the love of his life, his baby, Elois. They were married in June 1993, sharing a beautiful journey of life and family together. Karry spent many years working at the ROCMND Detention Center, where he mentored and poured into the lives of countless young people. He also worked for APAC for many years, where he was highly respected for his strong work ethic. In his later years, he worked at the Vinita Public library, and he was a ranch-hand for Leonard Logan (where they ultimately formed a close friendship) while also volunteering at the Eastern Trails Museum.
He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting and could often be found watching just about any sport, especially football and golf.
Most importantly, Karry dedicated his life to God. After accepting Christ as his Savior, he served as a deacon until he answered the call to ministry in 2005 and faithfully served as a minister. He was a devoted member of Serenity Missionary Baptist Church (formerly known as Sunrise Baptist Church), where he served under the leadership of Pastor Robert Ramsey, Jr. He served in many areas throughout the years including youth minister where he created H.E.R.O.S (Helping everyone receive our Savior).
Although Karry found a welcoming home in Oklahoma, Louisiana was always carried close to his heart. Born and raised in Louisiana, he was incredibly proud of his down south root, or the "dirty south," as he affectionately called it. He never missed a chance to share stories about the upbringing that shaped him. He was especially known for his deep love of cooking (and eating) authentic Louisiana food. To Karry, food was far more than nourishment; it was a way to bring his family together. He was fiercely proud of the family he was raised with and cherished every single opportunity to travel back to Louisiana to visit, share laughs, and "catch up" on all the good food... oh, and Geaux Tigers!
Karry possessed a genuine heart for people and was passionate about pouring into his community. Whether he was volunteering or simply lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, he found his greatest joy in serving others. He especially took pride in mentoring and guiding young men. Karry truly never met a stranger, and he left a mark on everyone he crossed paths with. While he was not born in Vinita, the community and the people there became dear to his heart and he made sure to show that in his efforts of giving back.
Karry is survived by his wife, Elois Daggs of Vinita, Oklahoma; his daughters, Jeanetta Traylor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Keke Daggs-Curtis and husband Akeem Curtis of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Jasmin Daggs of Vinita, Oklahoma; his dog, CoCo, and his son, Karry Daggs and wife Rachel Daggs of Commerce, Oklahoma. He was the proud grandfather of eight beautiful grandchildren and grand dog.
He is also survived by his brothers, Brianell Ruffin, Sr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Ruben "June" Daggs, Jr. and Shawnee Davis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his sister, Clark Desvignes and Deirdre Daggs of Franklin, Louisiana; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanette Duncan, Catina Smith, and Delois George. mother & father-in-law, Rachel and John Paul George, Sr. as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Karry was preceded in death by his father, Rubin "Pinkie" Daggs, Sr.; his mother, Rutha Mae Daggs; his brother, Terrell "Big T" Daggs, Sr.; his brother-in-law, John Paul George, Jr.; his nephew, Terrell "Doodie" Daggs, Jr.
Karry's legacy of faith, service, and authenticity will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he impacted. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, wisdom, and love will remain in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 19th, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Vinita with Pastor Robert Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Vinita, Oklahoma.
