Redeeming evidence is the visible proof that real change has taken place, fruit that shows a life is being restored.

In a practical sense, it’s not just words or intentions. It’s what can be seen over time:
* Changed behavior
* Consistent choices
* Restored relationships
* Honesty where there used to be hiding
* Responsibility where there used to be chaos

Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, “You will know them by their fruits.”
And in James 2:17, “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

Community matters.

Recovery was never meant to be walked alone. Healing grows stronger when we gather, when we share our stories, and when we lift each other up. In community, we find accountability, encouragement, and reminders that no one has to fight this battle by themselves.

We’d love for you to come be part of that.

Join us next Saturday, the 25th at 1:00 for a Fish Fry filled with music, testimonies, games, and plenty of fish & fixin’s. Bring your family, bring a friend, and come experience the power of community together.

IT BEGINS AGAIN TONIGHT!
Meet us at South Park.

In recovery, it’s crucial to retrain the brain to find joy, connection, and satisfaction without relying on substances or destructive behaviors. Here’s why exercising the “fun” muscle matters:

1. Rewiring the Brain
Addiction hijacks the brain’s reward system, making it associate pleasure and relief with substances. Engaging in healthy fun—laughter, games, social gatherings—helps create new neural pathways that associate joy with sobriety. Over time, this makes sober fun feel more natural and rewarding.

2. Building New Habits
Recovery isn’t just about stopping a behavior—it’s about replacing it. Having fun in healthy ways shows the brain and body that life can still be exciting, social, and fulfilling without drugs or alcohol.

3. Reducing Cravings and Triggers
Isolation, boredom, and stress are common relapse triggers. Sober fun fights all three:
• Laughter reduces stress hormones
• Positive social interaction builds support
• Engaging activities reduce boredom

4. Strengthening Community
Shared laughter and fun activities help people bond, build trust, and feel like they belong—all of which are vital for long-term recovery. When people feel connected, they’re less likely to relapse.

5. Restoring a Sense of Identity
Addiction often steals identity and self-worth. Fun experiences help people reconnect with who they are beyond their addiction—creative, joyful, goofy, competitive, or adventurous.

Bottom line: Fun isn’t just a bonus in recovery—it’s a powerful tool for healing, rewiring, and thriving in sobriety. Recovery doesn’t have to be heavy all the time.
Joy is part of the journey.

🌱 Why Spring Can Be Hard in Recovery

1. “I should feel better by now” pressure
As everything around you comes alive, there can be an internal voice saying:
“Why am I not there yet?”
That comparison can lead to discouragement or even shame.

2. Change disrupts stability
Recovery thrives on routine. Spring brings:
• Time changes
• More activity
• Less structure
That can quietly shake your foundation.

3. Old triggers resurface
Warmer weather = memories:
• Past relationships
• Party seasons
• Places or habits tied to use

Your brain remembers—even if your heart has moved on.

4. Increased energy without direction
You may feel restless, bored, or unsettled. That extra energy can:
• Push toward impulsive decisions
• Create frustration if not channeled

5. Isolation can feel louder
Seeing others out enjoying life can make you feel:
• Left behind
• Lonely
• Tempted to reconnect with unhealthy circles

🌿 What to Do About It (Practical Recovery Tools)

1. Re-anchor your routine
Don’t drift—double down on structure:
• Set consistent wake/sleep times
• Keep meetings or support strong
• Stay accountable daily

2. Give your energy a healthy outlet
• Exercise (walks, gym, yard work)
• Gardening (this one’s powerful—literally “planting new life”)
• Hands-on projects

3. Expect triggers—don’t be surprised by them
Instead of thinking “what’s wrong with me?”, shift to:
👉 “This makes sense. Now how do I respond?”

4. Stay connected (even when you don’t feel like it)
Isolation is dangerous in this season.
• Call someone
• Show up anyway
• Be honest about where you’re at

5. Replace old “spring habits” with new ones
If spring used to mean chaos… now it can mean:
• Growth
• Serving others
• Building something meaningful
