Studio 8 Hot Yoga is Hampton Roads' very first hot yoga studio with certified, experienced instructors that teach students body alignment, relaxation, and breath control. While the classes offered provide a physical workout, centering the mind and balancing the emotions are just as important and typically occur as a result of a regular practice. Summer is right around the corner and it’s so easy for it to sneak up and pass us by without a moment of acknowledgment. That’s why we’re celebrating the shift into summer on the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year!

Together, we’ll move through 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namasakar) in a moving meditation to honor the sun’s power and our own inner light.

The number 108 is sacred across astronomy, mathematics, and the ancient texts of yoga. The distance between the Earth and the Sun is 108 times the Sun’s diameter, the distance between the Earth and the Moon is 108 times the Moon’s diameter, there are 108 nadis converging at the heart chakra, and in the number itself, 1 is the singular, 0 is the void, and 8 is the infinite.

Also — stud10 8 — it’s hidden in our name.

What to expect:
🌞 9 sets of 12 sun salutations with rest between each
🌞 Room heated to 108°F
🌞 Modifications and child’s pose always encouraged
🌞 Extended savasana to close

🌞 You will leave feeling cleansed, clear, and renewed

Member Spotlight 🫶🔥 Jeff B.

He walked through this door in 2005. One of the very first members when the studio opened. He was hooked after the first class and never looked back.

Over 2500 hours of practice later, he’s flipped the script entirely. He used to go to the gym four days a week and fit yoga in twice. Now it’s yoga four days, gym two or three. If something has to give, it’s the gym.

What changed? His approach. He stopped treating yoga like a workout — pushing for more reps, more chaturangas. Now the focus is proper technique. Building strength through balance and flexibility.
