A gentle reminder for the mamas-to-be 🤍

Pregnancy can come with a lot of pressure, opinions, and expectations. But there are a few things you can let go of.

You do not have to sleep perfectly.
You do not need every baby item on every checklist.
You do not have to look “pregnant enough.”
And your journey is not supposed to look like anyone else’s.

You’re growing a whole human, not trying to win a competition 💕

Save this for a day you need the reminder and share it with an expecting mama who may need it too.

Braxton Hicks can definitely have you wondering, “wait... is this it?” 😅

Not every contraction means labor is starting. Braxton Hicks are often inconsistent and may ease up with movement, hydration, or rest. Real contractions usually become stronger, closer together, and don’t ease up over time.

Every pregnancy and labor experience is different, so this is meant to guide you, not make you stress. If something feels off, you’re unsure, or you simply need reassurance, don’t hesitate to reach out for support 🤍
Save this post for later and share it with an expecting mama who may need it.

Today we remember and honor the brave hearts who gave their today for our tomorrow ❤️

This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the sacrifice, courage, and service of the men and women who gave everything for our country. We also hold space for the families and loved ones who continue to carry their memory every day.

Forever grateful. Never forgotten.

Breastfeeding is often described as “natural,” but that doesn’t mean it always feels easy right away.

Both parent and baby are learning something completely new together, latch, positioning, feeding cues, milk production, comfort, rhythm, and timing all take practice.
It’s normal for there to be a learning curve in the beginning.

Needing support does not mean you’re doing anything wrong. Questions, adjustments, and reassurance are all common parts of the feeding journey.
You are not expected to have everything figured out immediately 🤍

If you need feeding support, I offer virtual and in-person lactation support as a Certified Lactation Counselor.

Babies often show hunger cues before they begin crying.
Some early signs can include rooting, bringing hands to the mouth, sucking motions, stirring from sleep, or turning their head looking for food.

Responding to early feeding cues can sometimes help feeding feel calmer and more organized for both baby and parent.

Crying is usually considered a later hunger cue, which can make latching more difficult if baby becomes overly upset or frustrated.

Learning your baby’s feeding cues takes time, and every baby communicates a little differently 🤍

Movies make labor look sudden and intense, but real labor often starts slowly.

Early labor can feel like:
• mild cramps
• back pain
• pressure
• contractions that come and go

Some people are even able to sleep, walk around, or talk normally during early labor.

Every birth experience looks different, and labor doesn’t have to look dramatic to be real labor 🤍

A common misconception about doulas is that they replace the partner during labor, but that is not what doula support is.

Doulas are there to support BOTH the birthing person and their support system.

Partners often want to help but may not always know how. A doula helps bridge that gap by guiding, encouraging, and offering tools so partners feel more confident and involved.

This support can include:
• helping explain what is happening during labor
• suggesting comfort techniques and positions
• supporting the partner so they can support you
• providing reassurance and grounding energy
• helping create a calmer birth environment

The goal is never replacement, it is support, education, and teamwork.

When everyone in the room feels supported, the birth experience often feels more connected and less overwhelming.

If you’re preparing for birth, I offer childbirth education, lactation support, and doula services designed to help you feel informed and supported throughout your journey 🤍

Not all baby bottles are designed the same, and for families who are breastfeeding or combo feeding, bottle choice can make a big difference.

Some bottles are designed with a gradual slope and a slower flow, which can better support a deeper latch and more paced feeding.

This is sometimes referred to as a “triangle test” style shape, meaning the ni**le has a more natural, sloped design rather than a stiff or overly wide flow.

Examples of commonly recommended bottles include:
• Pigeon
• Lansinoh
• Evenflo Balance+

These bottles tend to support:
• slower, more controlled feeding
• paced bottle feeding
• less flow preference

• better transition between breast and bottle
Every baby is different, but choosing a bottle that supports feeding skills (not just fast flow) can be helpful for many families.

If you need help navigating feeding, I offer lactation support as a Certified Lactation Counselor 🤍

Breastmilk storage can feel confusing, especially when you’re tired, pumping, and trying to keep track of everything.

Here are some general, evidence-based guidelines to help you store and handle expressed breastmilk safely:

Freshly expressed breastmilk can typically stay at room temperature for up to 4 hours. In the refrigerator, it is best used within 4 days, with 3 days being ideal when possible. In the freezer, milk can be stored for about 6 months for best quality, though up to 12 months is considered acceptable in deep freezer conditions.

Always label your milk with the date and time it was expressed so you can use the oldest milk first. This helps reduce waste and keeps feeding organized.

Every feeding journey looks different, and having simple, clear guidelines can take a lot of stress off your plate.
If you need support with pumping, feeding, or milk storage, I offer virtual and in-person lactation education and support as a Certified Lactation Counselor 🤍

Yes, newborn p**p comes in a wide range of colors and textures, and many of them are completely normal.

Here’s a simple guide:

🖤 Meconium (Day 1–2)
Sticky, black, tar-like stool. This is your baby’s first p**p.

💚 Transitional stool (Days 2–4)
Greenish-brown and looser as baby starts digesting milk.

💛 Mustard yellow (Breastfed babies)
Soft, seedy, and frequent, this is very common.

🍏 Green stool
Can be normal and may happen with gassiness, feeding patterns, or digestion changes.

🤎 Brown or tan (Formula-fed babies)
Thicker and more formed, but still normal.

🚨 Call your provider if you see:
Red, white, or chalky/gray stools

Your baby’s p**p will change as they grow, feed, and adjust. The key is learning what’s normal for YOUR baby and noticing changes over time.

If you ever feel unsure, it’s always okay to reach out to your pediatric provider.

Save this for later, you will probably refer back to it 🤍
