Education, preparation and support are all very helpful when nearing your due date.. however what I love and hate about labor is you can’t control it. Essentially you prepare and let go. Of course I believe doula support.. physically changing moms position, offering comfort tools, giving words of encouragement, helps (or I would not have this job 😅) But when push comes to shove the MOM does the work. I am just there to remind her she can. Birth is HARD -a person is literally coming out of your body! After hundreds of births and 20 years of doula work I am still in awe of how strong women are 💪🏻 Whether you labor for hours or days I know you can do it!!

LOOK WHO I RAN INTO last month at a birth 😍 Christi has not been to a birth in 7+ years… she decided to put on her doula hat for an old repeat client/good friend. For all those wondering… though the birth was beautiful it did not persuade her to go back on call 🤣 I did enjoy talking about birth with her and such a gift to see each other in our doula clothes 🥰

This little man decided he wanted to come at 35 weeks -before our prenatal meeting 🙃 Thankfully I was with this sweet mama 4 years ago when they welcomed their daughter. Being with a family as they meet each child is so special 🥰

TWINS 💖💖 what a journey!! Spontaneous labor at 36 weeks. Arrived 6cm. I had her labor on the toilet for maybe 2 contractions, then slight lunge on step stool for maybe 2 contractions, then hip squeeze for a few contractions… COMPLETE 😳😃 pushing was a bit trickier and much longer. This mama endured and her girls were born 3 minutes apart. Baby B came so fast she didn’t realize she was born 😅 SNG staff was amazing and yes I was allowed in the OR 😊

ENDURANCE!! This strong mama just kept going and going and going. She had prodromal labor for DAYS then eventually early labor for HOURS then active labor for HOURS then pushed in a million positions!! Her endurance is a picture of strength. Such an honor to support this sweet family 💙

This lady is the fastest birther I know 🚀 She has hired me to be her doula 4 times 😍 However I have only seen 1 baby’s birth 🙃 On the day of this little ones birth, mama was out showing a house (Realtor) 2 hours before holding her baby 😳 Always an honor to support… prenatally, minutes after birth and postpartum 🥰

People often ask me what’s it like to be at a home birth. My answer always surprises them “normal” I typically have 10% of my clients deliver at home. This year it’s looking closer to 20%
