Dr. Reena Talreja-Pelaez was featured this week by 13News Now to discuss endometriosis awareness. Endometriosis affects many women, yet far too often the road to diagnosis and treatment is longer than it should be. Conversations like this matter because greater awareness leads to better understanding, earlier diagnosis, and more compassionate care. Thank you to 13News Now for helping bring attention to this important women’s health issue. 💛

Endometriosis is a painful condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, causing severe discomfort and fertility issues.

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. At Virginia Beach OBGYN, we want our patients to know that eating disorders and disordered eating can affect overall health, menstrual cycles, fertility, pregnancy, and emotional well-being — and they can affect people of all body sizes and life stages. If you’ve ever felt anxious about appointments, the scale, body changes, or talking about eating concerns, you are not alone. It’s okay to say:

“Being weighed is hard for me.”
“I’d prefer a blind weight.”
“I think I’m struggling with my relationship with food.”

You do not need to have the perfect words to start the conversation. We’ve shared a new blog post with a clinical overview, warning signs, and tips on speaking with your doctor — including guidance for patients who experience scale/weight-related anxiety. https://www.virginiabeachobgyn.com/blog/national-eating-disorder-awareness-week/

❤️ Virginia Beach OBGYN is going RED for women tomorrow—join us! ❤️

Women’s heart health matters. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, yet many women don’t recognize the risks or the warning signs. Raising awareness encourages prevention—knowing your numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar), prioritizing healthy habits, and seeking care early when something feels “off.”

Staff and patients: Wear red to your appointment or to work tomorrow to support Go Red for Women Day and help spread the message--support strong hearts, and strong women.❤️👚👠

📸 Bonus: snap a photo and tag us so we can share the red love.
