If One Person Has Lice, Does the Whole Family Need Treatment? 👨👩👧👦
Not necessarily!
But everyone who has had close contact should be checked.
We don’t recommend automatically treating everyone in the house just because one person has lice. The goal is to identify who actually has an active infestation and treat appropriately.
Why is checking everyone so important?
If another family member has lice and it goes unnoticed, lice can continue circulating through the household. It may seem like someone “got lice again” or that treatment didn’t work when there was actually another source of exposure.
Our rule of thumb:
🔎 Check everyone. Treat what you find.
And remember, not everyone with lice itches or has obvious symptoms.
