Question of the day; "Can we use Texas Forestry 2604 grant to buy used SCBA?"

YES! BUT ONLY FROM A CERTIFIED DEALER!

You can not buy just regular used air-paks from just anyone, like another department. HOWEVER....

Recertification of the paks to NFPA 1981 standard by an Authorized dealer of that air-pak is absolutely legal and legitimate.

As always verify with Texas A&M Forest Service and the 2604 grant team before making any purchase but you absolutely can buy a refurbished recertified to standard 3M Scott Fire & Safety Air-pak with your $25,00 equipment grant from HEAT Safety Equipment!

You CAN NOT buy the next department overs used Dalmatian packs with grant money.

This is the difference between "used" and "re-certified" hope this helps!

They also should assist with funding emergency services! If your area is getting a data center or BESS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS NEED a seat at the table!

These companies are willing to give big money per year for fire protection, infrastructure, and Training, but you have to ask before they build or its to late!

South Texas temperatures can quickly become dangerous. Heat-related illnesses can develop rapidly and become life-threatening if warning signs are ignored.

👶 Check on children, older adults, and vulnerable neighbors
🐾 Protect your pets
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a vehicle—even for a minute

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

One change in this year's AFG guidance allows departments to seek funding for damaged, unsafe, or unrepairable PPE and SCBA regardless of age.

For departments managing aging inventories, it's a reminder that condition matters just as much as age when evaluating equipment needs.

Application deadline: June 22.
