New PGY1s enjoyed a weekend in Philly together after fun week of learning, including rapid response training led by their PGY2s and intro to all things gyn with Dr. Laguerre! Good luck all you July 1 interns!!

What a week!! New PGY2s practiced central line and IO placement during their ICU orientation, new PGY1s got acclimated to Virtua and participated in an MSK workshop before both classes joined their new PGY3s for an end of the week lunch!! Cheers to a new academic year!!! 🩺🥼🩻

Run with the Doc’s 5K ✔️

Dr. Lucente, Dr. Kaur, Dr. Usufally and Dr. Logeswaran started their morning running for Virtua’s Perinatal Bereavement and Palliative Care Program, which provides support and care to families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss.

Can’t wait for next year’s event!

Meet our newest member of faculty: Dr. Kristina Laguerre!!

🏡 Hometown: Glen Rock (North Jersey)
🧠 Academic interests: community medicine, women’s health, diversity in medicine, mentorship
👩🏾‍🏫 Favorite part of working with residents:
“I love to see how residents progress from day 1 to graduation! It’s so fulfilling knowing that you get to impact how a future doctor will go on to care for their patients. Through mentoring relationships, I have witnessed the personal and professional growth of my mentees, and that truly inspires me to continue working with residents.”
🧩 Hobbies: “arts & crafts (particularly holiday crafts), interior design (HomeGoods= my happy place), traveling, indoor cycling, board games, jigsaw puzzles”
💯Fun fact about me:
“I come from a BIG family. I love spending time with my family, especially holidays— which are always chaotic, but fun. As the youngest of 7, I’ve always had a ton of nieces and nephews, but I just had my first daughter in October. Being an auntie is one of my favorite roles and I’m loving this new experience as a mama 💕
- Professionally, I love organized medicine! I think there is something magical about large groups of physicians, from different walks of life, coming together to push the needle forward. I first got involved with the AAFP and AAFP Foundation in 2017 as a resident and have been heavily involved since. I am currently one of the physician trustees for the AAFP Foundation Board of Trustees. I travel to Kansas City often and always joke that KC (AAFP headquarters) is my home away from home.”

A big congratulations to our PGY-3’s Kateryna Poliashov and Janessa Bell who were awarded a blue ribbon in special recognition of their research on the HPV vaccination being amongst the top 25 poster presentations at the annual Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) conference in New Orleans, La.

PGY-2’s Christina George, Tyler Klecha, and Simran Kaur attended American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) annual conference in Seattle, Wa, along with sports faculty Dr. Mukherjee, where Christina presented original research, and they were joined by former Rowan graduates, and current sports medicine fellows/attending, Arjun Chari, Varun Gara, and Raunak Singh.
