We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of our dear friend Charlie Klein. As we celebrate his life, we are thankful for his support of the Grumpy Plunge; his energy and enthusiasm for this fundraising event made every frozen jump that much more special. You couldn't miss him in his neon pick outfit and smile on his face.

Thank you, Charlie, for all you have done for the individuals of Great River Homes. May you rest in peace. 🕊

In addition to the difficult revalidation process, we are again seeing in real time how vulnerable the disability service sector really is. With a new memo coming out from the Department of Justice about the interpretation of the Olmstead Act, Home and Community Based Services continue to be at risk. Although currently, this is not a change to any laws, it will heavily impact how the courts view disability rights and how people with disabilities will be represented. Community integration is a huge part of disability services and the driving force behind the support people receive at Great River Homes, Inc. The Olmstead Act has been imperative to support people with disabilities in having access to community living, integrated employment, and inclusive services. We are so grateful to those who continue to advocate on behalf of the people receiving services from Great River Homes and people with disabilities across the nation. If you would like to learn more about how to support the people of Great River Homes, please reach out to Cari McCann.

Recently, Great River Homes, Inc. Executive Director, Cari McCann, was interviewed by MPR News, where she and YourPath CEO, Jordan Hansen, discussed the MN Health and Human Service Provider Revalidation Process. Like so many other organizations, Great River Homes provided all necessary information to the state of MN for revalidation, but despite compliance, we were disenrolled from the Medicaid reimbursement program. As Great River Homes continues to appeal the denial decision, we continue to provide uninterrupted care to individuals receiving services. We are so grateful to advocates and elected officials who stepped up to make it clear that if the revalidation process is not resolved, people will be negatively impacted in a monumental way. Although we are currently able to provide care, the revalidation process has put a huge strain on so many. These are scary times, but if you would like to learn more or show your support, please reach out to Cari McCann.

Providers and disability advocates worry many providers were disenrolled simply because the Department of Human Services ran out of time to revalidate providers.
