Decided to grab some Breakfast before I left town. Quaint little Diner right on the highway headed out of Leesville. A Philly cheesesteak omelet, stuffed full of thinly sliced, well seasoned steak, fresh mushrooms, onions, and white cheddar cheese. Creamy, buttery grits, and an obviously housemade biscuit, rounded out this hearty meal. The service is fast and friendly. If y'all aren't eatin' here, you're missin' out!

If you find yourself anywhere near Leesville Louisiana, this is where you should be eating! Small place, that does nonstop business! I had the grilled fish and shrimp platter with red beans, rice and gravy, and hushpuppies. Hot, fresh melt in your mouth seafood, red beans that just pop in mouth, cooked down with sausage and cajun spices. The rice and gravy is rich, flavorful, comfort. The hushpuppies have just a little kick. The service is fast and friendly, and it's not gonna break the bank! If y'all aren't eatin' here, you're missin' out!

After a two decade absence, for one night only, Tim returns to Middendorf's!!! The home of great views, the sound of the gulls and the water, and INCREDIBLE seafood! This drive up, boat up venue is still just perfect! So often, when you haven't been to a place in awhile, it just doesn't live up to the memory. This place definitely does! From their signature thin catfish, to their enormous stuffed blue crab, even after twenty years, this place doesn't disappoint! Fried oysters, crispy on the outside, creamy goodness on the inside. Thin catfish, a specialty that almost defies description. Delicate, crunchy, savory slices of heaven. Tender popcorn shrimp, hushpuppies with just a hint of jalapeño, crispy dofy fries, and an amazing, baseball sized stuffed blue crab that simply delicious, and almost a meal in itself! If y'all aren't eatin' here, you're missin'out!

So, back in the day, when I was working on the road six days out of seven, I ate here a lot. This is the first time in a long while, and it is STILL devastatingly good! Catfish, crispy on the outside, moist and flaky inside, really good cole slaw, and a fully loaded baked potato, were just what the Doctor ordered! (Okay, maybe not my Cardiologist, but some kind of Doctor.....). All in all, a great trip down memory lane, and a wonderful meal! If y'all aren't eatin' here, you're missin' out!

Yes, we've posted about these folks before, but Oh My Gosh, it's just ALWAYS a great experience! We started off with a savory meat patty tucked in to warm, pillowy super flavorful coco bread. I opted for the jerk chicken, grilled to perfection, and enrobed in a warm Jerry sauce, redolent with Jamaican spices, and carrying just the right amount of heat. Carla, after some serious indecision, (seriously, everything on the menu is just SO good), decided on the oxtails. Braised slowly, in a rich, flavorful gravy until they are fall off the bone tender. They are ALWAYS a favorite! Both entrees are served with a melange of carrots, cabbage, and green pepper. Tender crisp with a slight sour taste that is incredibly pleasant. Rice and peas, mildly spiced, yet so addictive, and plantains, soft, sweet, and a wonderful counterpoint to the savory meats. We rounded out the meal with sweet potato cornbread, moist and delicious! Seriously, y'all need to get yourselves down there, these folks are super friendly, and can cook up a storm! If y'all aren't eatin' here, you're missing out!

Tucked in to a very unassuming building, just off I-20 in Abilene, is truly inspired Indian food! The vegetable samosa are light, crisp, airy pillows, stuffed with potato, and peas, and spices, truly a great beginning. The Aloo Gobi Curry is a delightful spicy blend of cauliflower, sweet potato, and an absolutely decadent spicy curry. The garlic Naan manages to be crisp and soft, all in the same bite, and is redolent with fresh garlic and butter. It's a very small space, with VERY big flavors! If you're not eatin' here, you're missin' out!
