Today at Lake Shore Funeral Home and Crematory we held our annual Flag Day Retirement Ceremony.

It was such an impactful service in honoring our Nation’s flag. Community participants included MC JRROTC students from Midway High School, Heart O’ Texas District ScoutingTroup, American Heritage Girls, Tom and Terri Kurbow, along with Lake Shore staff members.
Those in attendance learned about the nation’s history of the flag, recited and reflected patriotic honors and song, and ending the ceremony with mass flag retirement thru cremation (as the U.S. Flag Code states when the nation’s flag is deemed unfit to display and fly, it shall be disposed of properly, preferably by burning), and food and fellowship followed.
June 14 is designated as National Flag Day (observed today at Lake Shore).
We encourage everyone to fly the U.S. Flag proudly this weekend for Flag Day and also thru July 4 as our nation celebrates its 250th birthday.

Everyone- please join us in wishing Lake Shore Family member, Kim Mattson, a very happy birthday!

Kim did not celebrate enough over the long, holiday weekend so we had to extend her birthday into the workweek!

Kim is the first person you encounter at the funeral home when walking in the door or calling on the phone. She is our ‘first impression person’ and we could not have a better representative!

Happiest Birthday, Kim!!

As we gather this Memorial Day, let's take a moment to reflect on its true meaning. This day is not just about barbecues and sales; it's a solemn reminder to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Let us pay tribute to the brave men and women who served in the armed forces and remember their courage and commitment. Take time today to share stories, visit memorials, or simply pause in gratitude for their sacrifices.

Together, we can keep their memory alive. ❤️
