A meaningful gift was recently shared with Astera Health’s Infusion Center in memory of Joan Ostlund.

Joan received all of her infusions at Astera during her cancer journey and passed before the Astera Health/CentraCare Coborn Cancer Center opened. In her honor, 20 care bags were donated for infusion patients, each filled with a blanket, water bottle, activity book, journal, and pen.

Her granddaughter, Darbee, was excited to deliver the bags to Lyn and Eliza, helping share comfort and kindness with patients and families.

🌟 Help us celebrate Jeanne, our May Star of Astera award recipient! 🌟

Jeanne was nominated by Cindy for stepping up to assist with a patient emergency while she was off the clock and in the waiting room.

The nomination: "I would like to nominate Jeanne for the Star of Astera. Jeanne is one of our RNs on Med-Surg. She was visiting our ReadyCare as a patient herself (off duty) when she observed a very busy line for Surgery, Infusion & ReadyCare patients. A couple entered the lobby, he had his wife take a seat, and he stood in line quietly. Jeanne was in the right place at the right time. She observed that something was very wrong with the lady. Jeanne went over to her, and the lady told her she thought she was having a heart attack. She jumped right into action, asking me to let her into the ER, and then alerted our ER nurses of this situation, and they zipped her right back to be seen. Once a nurse, always a nurse, and Jeanne did the right thing, jumping in to help someone who could not help herself.

Thank you, Jeanne, for taking ownership and empathy to help someone in need.”

At the Astera Health/CentraCare Coborn Cancer Center in Wadena, we understand that cancer care is more than treatment. It’s support, comfort, and helping patients keep a sense of normalcy during a difficult journey.

After eight years of dedicated service to our patients and community, we'd like to thank Dr. Alfredmy Chessor for the compassionate care and commitment she has provided throughout her time at Astera Health.

This week marks Dr. Chessor’s final week seeing patients. While we're saddened to see her leave, we wish her the very best as she begins this next chapter in her career.

Congratulations to our 2026 Comeback Player of the Year award recipients!

This award recognizes student-athletes from our athletic training member schools who showed dedication, toughness, and commitment while recovering from injury and returning to competition.
