Beverly Rogers Adams

LILESVILLE - On Sunday, September 6, 2026, Mrs. Beverly Rogers Adams passed away peacefully at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe surrounded by the love of her family.

There will be a memorial services at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

A private entombment will take place at a later date at Anson Memorial Park.

Beverly was born October 29, 1952 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Chester Rogers and the late Betty Jean Melton Rogers. She was a 1971 graduate of Bowman High School.

For 26 years, she worked at Wansona- Wul-Zinco Manufacturing in Wadesboro as a graphic designer and also at Master Screens in Monroe. She later retired as an inspector with Hornwood in Lilesville.

Beverly was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, sang in the choir and often helped with serving meals at the church.

She loved flowers, fishing, crafting, baking and artwork.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Willie Adams; her daughter, Christi Goodwin (Michael) of Lilesville; her grandchildren, Steven Dean of Morven, Erica Mills of Ruby, SC, Honovi Bullard and Harmony Gregory both of Lilesville and Matthew Rhode (Haley) of Kannapolis; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Aron, Aria, Oliver, Madison, and Sophia; her sisters and brothers, Kay Hildreth of Charlotte, Betsy Rogers of Monroe, Terry Rogers of Winnsboro, SC, and William Rogers of Wadesboro; her brothers-in-law, Paul Adams of Everett, WA, Jerry Adams of Polkton and Kenny Adams (Amanda) of Indian Trail; and her nieces and nephews and their families.

The family suggests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 430 Landsford Dr., Wadesboro, NC 28170.

Louise Williams Almanza

KANNAPOLIS -On Monday, September 7, 2026, Mrs. Louise Williams Almanza, 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 13, 2026 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Jowers Cemetery in Lilesville.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Louise was born July 8, 1937 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Edward Williams and the late Beulah Ricketts Williams. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School.

Louise will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Wanda Starnes (Kenny) of Atkinson and Brenda Gonzalaz (Freddie) and Sherri Rojas both of Kannapolis; her husband, Genaro Almanza of Mexico; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hernandez (Chris), Greg Starnes (Kayla), Chris Bomham (Karmin), Nikki Gonzalez (Gary), Jimmy Gonzalez (Kellie), Crissy Buford (Jay), Vanessa Chasteen (Austin), Jessica Rojas, Rebecca Rojas, and Eddie Rojas (Beth); 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother, Winnie Williams of Wadesboro and Ronnie Williams (Kay) of Bumpass, TN and her nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Frances Gathings and husband, Wayne, Margaret Chewning and husband, Ronnie, Van Williams, Tommy Williams, Bud Williams and wife, Ursula, and Calvin Williams; her granddaughter, Emilia Rojas and her great-great-grandson, Zachary Schweitzer.

Kenneth Allan Markell

WADESBORO - Mr. Kenneth Allan Markell, 84, of Chapel Hill passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham surrounded by the love of family.

Kenn was born May 23, 1942 in Michigan and was a son of the late Joseph Ira Markell and the late Anna Mae Sopp Markell. He served in the National Guard. He worked with horses before pursuing a career in truck driving from which he retired.

He suffered a massive stroke in 2024, which required that he have skilled nursing care and in mid 2025 he reconnected with his stepdaughter, Heather, made arrangements for him to move to Anson Health and Rehab to be closer to her and her family. He had another massive stroke that he couldn’t survive.

Kenn had an infectious smile and he made family throughout his life in the people he met and they were deeply loved by him.

He leaves behind his best friend Bruce Collins & family and stepchildren Heather Matthews Edwards and Howard Mathews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister, Jack Markell and Betty Jean Shehane and by his step-daughter, Becky VanOordt

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lystra Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, NC.

The family is most grateful to the staff of Anson Health and Rehab for all they have done for Kenn while he was a resident there and most recently to Richmond County Hospice and the Staff of the Hospice Haven for all they did during his time of transition.

James Odis "Jimmy" Hildreth

POLKTON - On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Mr. James Odis "Jimmy" Hildreth, 72, passed away while doing what he enjoyed, fishing in Anson County.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. John Greene and Rev. Mark Swaringen officiating. Interment will follow in Griffin Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Thursday and other times at the home.

Jimmy was born February 7, 1954 in Anson County, NC and was a son of the late James Andrew Hildreth and the late Leta Ann Helms Hildreth. He was a graduate of Bowman High School.

He worked for more than 30 years with the North Carolina Department of Transportation with the bridge maintenance department. He was active in his community, having served as a Town Council Member for the Town of Polkton and leader of Boy Scout Troop # 26 in Polkton for more than 10 years. He was also a member of The Compassionate Friends of North P*e Dee.

Jimmy was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Polkton Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent and as a Deacon..

He dearly loved his home town of Polkton and often told people, any day out of Polkton was a day waisted.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Debra Kay Guion Hildreth; his grandchildren, Wesley Hildreth and wife, Liv of Wadesboro, Matthew Hildreth, Kaylee Ann Hildreth and James Ray Hildreth both of Peachland; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Van Hildreth of Peachland; his sisters, Annie Griffin of Wingate and Debbie Goodwin (Russell) of Polkton; and his nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jamie Lee Hildreth, Jeffery Lynn Hildreth and Joseph Eric Hildreth; his brother, Johnny Lee Hildreth and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl Guion and Frances Guion.

Jimmy loved the Lord, his wife, grandchildren, family, fishing, Atlanta Braves, Carolina, and John Wayne, mostly in that order. He also loved to cook for people and will surely be remembered for his pound cake, strawberry cake, and banana pudding. If there was a fundraiser, he would be glad to bake cakes, all you had to do was ask. He often took special requests from his grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends.

He often hosted catfish stews during the ACC Tournament, inviting his family and friends from around the Town of Polkton.

Jimmy also loved Christmas. He always decorated his yard to the max for Christmas, making treats and shopping. He loved the magic in the eyes of the children and often volunteered to be Santa Claus and Walmart.

Terry Wyatt Williams

WADESBORO - On Monday, September 7, 2026, Mr. Terry Wyatt Williams, 54, passed away peacefully at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 10, 2026 by the Graveside in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Terry was born in Richmond County, NC on November 22, 1971 and was a son of Cynthia Simmons Williams and the late Thomas Wyatt Williams. He was employed with Premier Fibers in Ansonville.

He enjoyed trips to the mountains and Gatlinburg. Shopping trips, especially, thrifting and cooking out.

Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife, Stephanie Griggs Williams; his children, Garrett Wyatt Williams and Faith Luree Williams both of Wadesboro; his mother and step-father, Cindy and Patrick Treadaway of Wadesboro; his brothers and sister, Brian Williams (April) of Chesterfield, SC, Jason Williams (Magan) of Wadesboro, and Kim Williams (Derrick) of Lilesville; a special friend, Wendy James of Marshville and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brandon Williams.

Keith was born on June 24, 1980, to Elder Charles Billingsley and Rev. Carol Turner. He departed this life on August 27, 2026, at Richmond County Hospice.

Keith was deeply loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He called several places home throughout his life, but his family was always the apple of his eye. To his Atlanta, Georgia family, he was known as Bam Bam; to his North Carolina Charlotte family, especially his uncle Bo, he was known as Snack and Big West; his mother and the Morven Family called him Keith.

He also leaves behind many friends whom he loved and cherished.

Keith confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by Bishop Richard Barnes in Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed sports and music. His favorite gospel song was “I won’t complain.”

Keith was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louise West and Mary Billingsley, and his brother Timothy Short.

Keith leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Rev. Carol Turner (David) of Morven, NC; his father, Elder Charles E. Billingsley, II (Missionary Arlene S. Billingsley) of Atlanta, GA; Zyion West (nephew, whom he loved as a son he never had); and Chi Tim Short (God-daughter). He leaves his beloved Sisters: Ashley Murray (Reco), Joy M. Billingsley, and Faith S. Billingsley of Atlanta, GA; and Connie Sue Hurb of PA. He leaves two God Sisters, Kiara Wilson and Leslie Sullivan (John) of Charlotte, NC. He leaves two brothers, Justin Turner (Loreal) of Morven, NC, and Albert E. Barnes (Tish) of Atlanta, GA. He leaves two God Brothers, Bryant Barringer (Peaches) of Greensboro, NC, and Ronnie Barringer of Wadesboro, NC. He leaves seven aunts: Evangelist Henrietta Barringer of Wadesboro, NC; Rev. Gina Sweetheart; Kesha Billingsley; Myoski Billingsley; Trinderlyn Billingsley, all of Atlanta, GA; Teresa Biggers (David); and Phyllis Goodwin of Wadesboro, NC. He leaves three uncles, David West (Marilyn) of Charlotte, NC; Kenny West (Eula); and James West (Samantha) of Lilesville, NC.

His extended family includes Patricia Ratliff (David) Chummy, Poochie, Tristen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special friend, Charles Perkins, known as “J” of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church Memorial Cemetery on HWY 52 South.

The public viewing will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Leavitt Funeral Home.

The family is gathering at the home on Candace Lane in Morven.

Annie Mullis Starnes

POLKTON - On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Mrs. Annie Mullis Starnes, 82, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Funeral services will be12:00PM, Monday, August 31, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Peachland, with Preacher Tim Helms and Chaplain Shelly Dial officiating. Interment will follow in Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery in Peachland.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church and at other times at the home.

Annie was born October 27, 1943, in Union County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Hoyle James Mullies and the late Annie Mae Moore Mullis. She was retired from Tyson Foods and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Robin Carpenter (Donny) of POlkton and Jan Wright (Floyd) of Peachland; her grandchildren, Heather Frye (Stephen) and Brandi Wright both of Peachland and Johnathon Carber of Polkton; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Dutton, Carmen Wright, Lexi Smith, Glady Carver and Gracie Carver; her great-great-granchildren, Amaya Dutton, Amara Dutton, Leana Mason, and Khloe Bennett and her nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Starnes; her granddaughter, Nicole Carver; and her brothers and sisters, Velmar Price, Coy Mullis, Margaret Kiker, Joyce Little, and Carl Mullis.

The family is most grateful to Gentiva Hospice for their service and care given to Annie and especially Ashley, Mandy, and Karra.
