They shouldn’t have to navigate healthcare alone. ❤️

As our parents and loved ones get older, healthcare can become complicated—multiple doctors, medications, appointments, test results, hospital stays, and decisions that can feel overwhelming.

Having a trusted family member or patient advocate involved can make a tremendous difference.

A second set of eyes can help:
• Ask questions and make sure concerns are heard
• Keep track of medications and changes
• Understand what the doctor is recommending
• Follow up on tests, referrals, and appointments
• Review discharge instructions after a hospital stay
• Help prevent miscommunication and medical errors
• Make sure everyone involved in their care is on the same page

Being involved doesn’t mean taking away a senior’s independence. It means making sure they have someone in their corner when they need it most.

Healthcare is complicated. Your loved one shouldn’t have to figure it all out alone.

Sometimes, the best advocate is simply someone who is paying attention. ❤️

When you are in a rehab facility with dementia - and you are handed a very lengthy admission packet. 🥹

The facility should realize not to hand someone with dementia a packet like that - and why is the admission packet being given two weeks after the admission????

The POA is on file and the POA has been very active in the patient’s care.

So why do this?

It just creates havoc and lots of anxiety for the patient.

Do better!

This is happening all over - and why a patient advocate can help! If you are not able to visit your loved one or are out of town - call a patient advocate. Have them visit, ask questions and really look at your loved one to monitor their condition.
