Monday Munchies: What's For Supper?
🍯 Honey Garlic Salmon with White Rice & Roasted Carrots 🥕🍚

A quick, flavorful dinner that's packed with protein and perfect for a busy weeknight!

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Salmon:

4 salmon fillets (4–6 oz each)
2 tablespoons honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)

For the Rice:

1 cup uncooked white rice
2 cups water
Pinch of sea salt

For the Roasted Carrots:

1 lb carrots, peeled and sliced into sticks or rounds
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley

👩‍🍳 Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Cook the rice according to package directions.
Prepare the carrots: Toss the carrots with olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and parsley. Spread them onto a baking sheet.
Make the honey garlic glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, olive oil, parsley, sea salt, and pepper.
Prepare the salmon: Place the salmon fillets on the same baking sheet (or a separate one) and brush generously with the honey garlic glaze.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F. Roast the carrots alongside the salmon until tender and lightly caramelized.
Serve the salmon over a bed of white rice with the roasted carrots on the side. Spoon any extra honey garlic glaze from the pan over the salmon for even more flavor.

✨ Healthy Tip: Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart health, brain function, and healthy inflammation. Pairing it with rice and roasted carrots makes for a balanced meal that's both nourishing and delicious! 🌿🍽️

🤔 What is "Leaky Gut?"

Think of your gut lining like a coffee filter.

Its job is to let the good stuff (nutrients, vitamins, and water) pass into your bloodstream while keeping the bad stuff (bacteria, toxins, and undigested food particles) inside your digestive tract.

When the lining of the gut becomes irritated or damaged, those tiny spaces between the cells can become more permeable—often referred to as "leaky gut."

👉 When that happens, unwanted particles may pass through the gut lining and trigger your immune system, leading to inflammation.

Some people with increased intestinal permeability may experience symptoms like:
• Bloating or digestive discomfort
• Food sensitivities
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Achy joints
• Skin issues

The good news? 🌿

Your gut has an amazing ability to heal when it's given the right support. That's why our Gut Health Programs focus on finding your underlying imbalances instead of simply treating symptoms.

💜 Healthy gut. Healthy body.

🤔 "What's the difference between Ultrasound and IFC?"

We get this question all the time!

While both therapies help your body heal, they work differently. And the best part? You don't have to figure out which one you need—we do! Every treatment plan is personalized, so we only recommend the therapies that will help you recover the fastest.

💜 Have questions about a treatment? Just ask! We love helping patients understand the "why" behind their care.

This patient had been committed to his health for years. He exercised regularly, ate nutritious foods, and made healthy choices every day.

But despite all of that, he still struggled with:
➡️ Low energy
➡️ Brain fog
➡️ Stiff, achy joints
➡️ Inflammation that wouldn't go away

Instead of guessing what his body needed, we created a personalized gut health program based on his unique needs. By identifying nutritional gaps and giving his body the support it was missing, the changes started to happen.

✨ His results:
✔️ 20 pounds lost
✔️ More energy throughout the day
✔️ Less inflammation and fewer stiff joints
✔️ Better workouts and improved recovery
✔️ Brain fog is now minimal

The biggest takeaway? Even healthy habits can only take you so far if your body isn't getting what it needs. Sometimes the missing piece isn't working harder—it's working smarter.

If you feel like you're eating well and doing "all the right things" but still aren't feeling your best, there may be an underlying reason.

📍 We'd love to help you stop guessing and start getting answers. Ask us about our personalized Gut Health Programs at your next visit!

Results vary from person to person. Our programs are individualized because every body has different needs.

For the Chicken:
4 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)

For the Sweet Potatoes:

2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried thyme

For the Asparagus:

1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
1 teaspoon olive oil or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional)
Pinch of sea salt

👩‍🍳 Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Season the chicken: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, parsley, thyme, sea salt, and pepper (if using). Rub the mixture over both sides of the chicken thighs and place them on one side of a baking sheet.
Prepare the sweet potatoes: Toss the wedges with olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and thyme. Spread them on the other side of the baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the sweet potatoes are tender and lightly browned. Flip the sweet potatoes halfway through cooking for even roasting.
Steam the asparagus during the last 5–7 minutes of baking until bright green and crisp-tender. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if desired.
Serve the chicken alongside the roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus for a wholesome, delicious meal.

✨ Healthy Tip: This meal is rich in protein, fiber, vitamin A, and antioxidants, making it a great option for supporting energy, muscle recovery, and overall wellness without sacrificing flavor. 🌱💚

✨ Tiny mineral. Big job.

Zinc is one of those nutrients your body uses every single day—but many people don't get enough through diet alone.

Here's why zinc deserves a spot in your wellness routine:

✔️ Supports a healthy immune system – Helps your body fight off everyday germs and supports normal immune function.

✔️ Promotes wound healing – Zinc plays an important role in repairing tissues and maintaining healthy skin.

✔️ Supports healthy skin – Can help maintain normal skin health and may support those prone to occasional breakouts.

✔️ Helps with taste and smell – Zinc is essential for your senses to function properly.

✔️ Supports growth and repair – Important for protein synthesis, cell growth, and recovery after exercise.

✔️ Antioxidant support – Helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

Who may benefit from zinc?

✅ Athletes who put extra stress on their bodies
✅ People who don't eat much red meat or seafood
✅ Anyone looking to support their immune health
✅ Those recovering from illness or injury
✅ People wanting extra support for healthy skin

⚠️ A quick reminder: More isn't always better. Too much zinc over time can interfere with copper absorption and may cause unwanted side effects. That's why we recommend taking the right amount for your needs.

At Hornstein Family Chiropractic, we carry clinical-grade supplements because quality matters. The right form, dosage, and absorption can make all the difference.

📍 Curious if zinc is right for you? Ask us at your next visit—we're happy to help you find the supplements that fit your health goals!
