Last week, we had the honor of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone at The Waters of Wakarusa—Marie K.’s 100th Birthday! 🥳💖

Family and friends gathered to help make the day extra special, bringing in a beautiful birthday cake for everyone to enjoy as we celebrated a century of memories, laughter, wisdom, and love.

Reaching 100 years old is an incredible accomplishment, and we were thrilled to shower Marie with birthday wishes and celebrate this unforgettable occasion together.

Our wonderful volunteer, Barb Dussler, has been busy creating beautiful handmade baby quilts to give away. Barb shared her collection with our residents, who thoroughly enjoyed admiring the craftsmanship, creativity, and love stitched into each quilt.

A big thank you to Laurie and the team from Dunes Hospice for bringing an ice cream truck to The Waters of Wakarusa during CNA Week! 🍦💙

Residents and staff were treated to delicious ice cream at no cost, making for a sweet and memorable afternoon. Our residents especially enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and savoring their favorite frozen treats.

We are so grateful for community partners like Dunes Hospice who help make special moments like these possible. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us celebrate our residents and staff! ☀️🍨

We had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend at The Waters of Wakarusa celebrating the incredible fathers in our community! 💙

The festivities began on Friday with live music from Jerry Fanslow and delicious root beer floats. On Saturday, residents, families, and guests enjoyed a fantastic car show with a great turnout, beautiful weather, and a DJ providing music throughout the day.

Families gathered to spend quality time with their loved ones while residents enjoyed exploring the classic cars and trucks, reminiscing about days gone by. Popcorn was served, and our talented chefs kept everyone well-fed with mouthwatering BBQ ribs and pulled pork sandwiches.

From relaxing on the front porch and taking in the excitement to sharing laughter and memories with family and friends, it was a weekend full of joy, connection, and celebration. Thank you to everyone who helped make Father’s Day at The Waters of Wakarusa so special! 🚗☀️🎶

A special thank you to our Resident Service Director, Robbin Ely, for treating our PCAs to special treats throughout the week and a delicious dinner from Texas Roadhouse as a token of appreciation.

🍁 Send Us Back Saturday to the 2026 Maple Syrup Festival! 🍁

Our residents had a wonderful time celebrating at this year’s Maple Syrup Festival! We enjoyed playing Bingo in the Senior Tent, where we also had the opportunity to connect with visitors and share more about our community.

One of the highlights of the day was watching the big parade pass right by our building. Residents gathered outside to enjoy all the excitement, and we were proud to join in the fun by decorating our mini van and participating in the parade! 🚐🎉

It was so nice to see our small town filled with visitors, laughter, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s festival such a memorable experience!

Please join us in welcoming two of our newest PCAs to The Waters of Wakarusa!

Care Sanchez has already been busy making connections with our residents, recently helping serve popcorn and spending time outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather. 🍿☀️

Savannah Lane has also jumped right in, taking a stroll with resident Betty and helping her around the building.

We are so excited to have Care and Savannah as part of our team and look forward to the compassion, kindness, and dedication they will bring to our residents each day. Welcome to The Waters family! 😊

We were honored to recently host a local family as they gathered to celebrate their 70th reunion here at The Waters of Wakarusa. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful lunch, shared memories, and topped off the day with a delicious cake. 🍰
