We hope to see you this weekend! While elderberry is often associated with the colder months, it’s a wonderful addition to your summer routine, too. Rich in naturally occurring antioxidants and plant compounds, our syrup pairs wonderfully with sparkling water, lemonade, iced tea, and mocktails for a refreshing seasonal boost. Our elderberry syrup, teas, and make at home kits make it easy to enjoy the unique flavor of elderberry all summer long.

Stop by our booth to sample our products, discover new recipes, and stock up on your favorites. We can’t wait to see familiar faces and meet new ones!

I wish I could say we grow all of our elderberry, but the truth is the most medicinal variety of elderberry Black Elderberry(sambucus niagra) doesn’t grow here in North Carolina. But they sure are pretty to look at, this is American elderberry (sambucus canadensis) growing in my suburban HOA backyard. American elderberry is great for jams, jellies and wine. Black elderberry is what you want in your elderberry syrup and is the immune support powerhouse, not all elderberry is the same. So where do we get our berries? From a small farm in the Pacific Northwest. A farmer I met at the Oly Farmers Market many many years ago when we lived there. 💫

I hate to share a post like this… but I feel like it needs to be addressed Michelle Fryman and Lees Hilltop (her farm) haven’t been at the Market at all this year. When the fraud and theft was discovered she was removed as the market manager as well as her farm. It’s been a very unfortunate situation but Wake Forest Farmers Market has been thriving! Lots of new amazing vendors bringing pastured, regenerative farmed meat, pork, poultry and raw milk products. The market didn’t skip a beat and if anything has grown for the better!!!!

Come out and support your local farmers this Saturday on Taylor Street from 8am-noon.

Wake Forest Police charge former Farmers' Market Manager with embezzlement

WAKE FOREST, NC – Following a three-month investigation, the Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) has charged former Wake Forest Farmers’ Market (WFFM) Manager Michelle Fryman, 54, with one count of embezzlement.

Fryman, 1684 James Winston Road, Oxford, is accused of misappropriating $6,552 of Farmers’ Market funds.

She was arrested Monday evening by the Granville County Sheriff’s Office and later issued a $20,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for today (Tuesday, May 19).

In February, WFPD launched an investigation after WFFM employees reported missing funds. Fryman resigned as WFFM Manager in December of 2025.
